This is exactly why everyone my age and younger hates boomers. You really don't care if your kids or grandkids have a better life than you do? I hope my new son ends up having a much better life and world to live in than things are now, I'm not going to be like "oh well as long as I got mine and I'm dead I don't care what happens to my kids and grandkids." Embarrassing as hell.

I dont think that is what he said, or meant, at all.

You want your cake and eat it also. When a boomer says they want the world to be more like what they grew up in. You get pissed. When they say, its your fight to change it. You get pissed. When they say, you need to work for the things and hold yourself responsible for your own decisions. You get pissed. Then ypu cry about the injustices.

Stop the whining, crying, complaining, about your mistakes or what you think are the worlds mistakes....

DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

That is what the damn Boomers did and now you want to complain but still want them to fight your fights. That right there is the mistake of Boomers and Xers....

raised some weak ass kids. Then they took it to a new weaker ass level.

All very good points, the future is going to look much different, it looks much different than even 50 years and that time looked much different than 200 years prior to that.

My thing is Elon is really the only one for open sourced development and continues to want to use these technologies for the betterment of humanity. I want the big dog on the block with this mindset to counteract and battle those who want otherwise.

it's never been about me, nor you...

I absolutely agree with that. But I raised my kids to fend for themselves, and they have, quite well, and the grandkids, now almost grown (ages 22 and 17), were raised the same way.

Heck, I even have a great grandson now by my older granddaughter (she's 32).

So I'm not devoting much time or brain power to this.

That might be the dumbest thing you've ever said on here, which is quite a feat. You don't know me one bit.

I raised my kids quite well, thanks, and they are in their 50s now, and live successful, wonderful, productive lives. On their own for decades now.

My grandkids are solid humans, were raised the same, and are headed in the same direction.

All I did was state reality. I'm 78 now. Probably close to the end. I'm not going to worry about every perceived political problem on the horizon.

WKUYG is exactly right. My kids are quite capable of dealing with challenges themselves, so I'm not going to spend my few years left worrying about it.

If I see I can do something about any issue, I get up and do it. I have been proactive all my life. They do the same. And they have done quite well.

All you did was prove why you support Dems, b/c you read things and jump to wrong conclusions, before doing even basic research.

Why did I read the TT dollar pay was voted against or voted down or whatever.

I’m all good with it, may we ALL make as much coin as we can and spend exorbitantly to help those folks earn what they can, and etc etc etc.

Shareholders over turned some board members?

Good news!

No he's not right. I can be angry about a lot of things and still function in life just fine. I own a home, have a 1 month old tomorrow little boy, have a great job, Those first 2 happened much later in life that I'd have ideally liked, didn't get the home until 37 and a child until 39, and the delay on that and the insane costs of everything are part of the reasons we are only going to have 1 child. It is what it is, I always wanted 2 kids but between me being almost 40 already, the costs of having a child, the costs of childcare (quote we got was about 2500 a month), and the fact that despite us both having jobs that pay very good we couldn't make ends meet on 1 of our incomes. That's fine, we'll pour all our love into our 1 son and be thrilled with that.

Damn, you're dense. I meant he was right about what he said about my kids.

Did you not read my sentence directly behind the one about him being right? It had ZERO to do with what you are whining about.

There's no affording having to pay for childcare for 2 kids under kindergarten for us, so we'd have to wait till he was at least in kindergarten to even consider trying again. By that point I'm almost 45 and she's almost 35. Just realistically isn't going to happen, and it's fine I think we are both going to be happy with just 1 child.

Ah stink, my old online friend. When you break character, you are capable of thoughts most profound.

You're exactly right: this is an existential question of what it is to be human. In a world where all of our needs are met by AI and robots, why do we exist? How are we any different from the most base animal? Are we truly then sentient, or worthy/capable of any higher plane (in a religious or philosophical sense)?

And yes, as for Musk, he's ridden a rocket-fueled meme stock quite successfully, but what has he achieved, himself? Impregnated many women (again, with technology rather than flesh) and pranced about with a chainsaw. The one Tesla model he oversaw is the failed Cybertruck, a shadow of the South African Caspir armored truck of his childhood. And he would damn us all to a similar shallow hell of wealth without accomplishment.

And for those unlike you and I, who suffer an emptiness of the soul that they may not even realize, and seek to attach their self-worth to a figure they see as greater than themselves, that's probably enough. A life of ease, with no struggle. No need to exert mind or body.

I consider it Hell.

Great post. I have missed you, my friend.

lol ... you know I don't pull punches, nor align myself with any 'person' ... I call it as I see it ... occasionally, a nugget appears from the stream ... 03-wink 04-cheers

Stop the whining and let me tell you what you are not saying....

that boomer might have got a house a few years before you but it was maybe half the size of what those starting out expect today. Let me point something out, up till 5 years ago the housing market was a buyers market and 2%.

You f'ing sit on your ass and did not buy then and you most likely could have. I owned maybe 35 homes that were once boomers first homes. They are 1 bath, maybe 1.5 and 800 to 1000 sq ft. That's not good enough for you crybabies, today. Nope want to blame someone else because you didnt have the credit or whatever the reason to buy a home 5 years ago.

Also that boomer probably had a car that was 5 to 8 years old and if they were really lucky a 2nd beater that barely ran and they had to fix every other month. You cry babies think something 5 years old is beneath you and you are not only carrying one car note but two new or almost new. That's why you had trouble buying a home earlier....

you had the price of a boomers first home in a car payment, or I should say 2 because both husband and wife need a car, new car.

Then you spending more money on phones for one month than the boomer paid in a year. What am I thinking....X2. Then you go out to eat or entertainment 3 to 5 times a week. The boomer was luckily if they went out for a fish or chicken dinner twice a month.

Stop the crying when you have more than enough to own a home. You are just not willing to let the "things" go, to buy it. Like I said I owned a shite load of boomers first homes. I bought those from 2012 to 2019 and was paying 65k to 85k for each. Not one of those homes would be good enough for you. From 2023 to 2024 I sold everyone for $165k to 220k. You are the one that made the choice to wait and buy. I also owned close to 40 homes (bought same period) that were 1200 to 2400 sq ft (probably closer to what your first home is) and we paid 95k to 125k. You made the choice not to buy till Biden wrecked the country.

One other thing you pissing and crying about 6 to 7% and when I bought my first home it was 14.8%... a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath tract home that had 950 sq ft. Took a whole year, after down payment and closing before we even thought about going out. Both working and both driving 7 to 8 year old cars.

Like I said, you want to f'ing cry about something that was in your control but didnt want to put in the work to get that home. Not only that a starter home was never even talked about. Today people think they can and need to start out middle class.

F'ing whinny ass baby that dont want to take responsibility that you and your wife (or girl friend) put my value on the toys than a home when that home was very affordable. Five f'ing years ago, I'm not talking 10 to 15 years, rates were 2 to 3% and homes were way more affordable than when I was mid 20s.

As for child care, again there's a difference in CHOICES. The boomer if both worked, didn't think their child had to have the best....

the 13 to 16 year old that lived down the street or the mother of 3 that was a stay at home mom made that money. Or a family cutback and the mother stopped working. Each of those are still possible today. Not possible if you dont want to adjust your lifestyle.....

CHOISES were made instead of whining, crying, blaming everyone but the person in the mirror that wants their cake and eat it too.

Bought my first home at 21 at 7.5%

I grew up in a home with 2 brothers that was under 1000 sq ft. My father and mother made less than 30k per combined most of my childhood and teen years.

I can go back to by grandfathers who were both WW2 vets who both did whatever it took to get by and raise families.

Kids coming up nowadays up to the generation behind mine (will be a grandfather in a month) are a bunch of babies. Get me a car at 16, a phone at 13, pay for this and that and think they are gonna luck into the house they grew up in... ummm negative. I didnt luck into my life and what ive built for my family.

And damn....leftists are totally against passing on that wealth to your family, they think they (&government) are entitled to it.

I "drove" my friends Tesla with FSD once. I had no doubt it would do well on the highway because even my fairly basic highway drive assist functionality works pretty well on interstates, but I was very surprised with how well it did on crowded city streets. I didn't have to touch the steering wheel except to pull into the parking garage.

I'm going to buy a Comma.ai device for my car to give myself similar self driving capabilities in my Ioniq 5.

Yeah, my sister used hers on city streets in Memphis. Long drives. Twice. It worked great but makes her nervous.

I told my kids my dad didn't drive a vehicle with A/C until I was in college at 19. We live on the MS Gulf Coast. They couldn't fathom that.

I grew up so long ago, I remember when we bought a large whole house fan, and opened the front door to cool the house down. Long before we got window A/C units.
