The annual meeting was great. The normal dopes will cherrypick what he said but his vision for humanity is off the charts.

Elon had the board by the balls. The only reason TSLA gets its valuation as a tech company and not a car manufacturer is due to elons cult and outlandish claims which rarely come true. If Tesla had a competent auto ceo making them boatloads of money the stock would still crater.

He already started by claiming Tesla will build a facility to manufacture chips

His performance goals are not binding to get his stock awards, so I have no doubt that even if he falls well short they’ll rubber stamp his awards at the lower valuation.

I find the idea of anybody creating a robot army unsettling, but an unstable K’d out guy whose ultimate politics are at least somewhat suspect is pretty scary

in totality, his version of exponential 'creativity' will doom our species ... and Ja!, I fully understand the concept of growth thru technological advancement ... however, the ol' adage, "idle hands and minds are the devil's workshop." is quite fitting ... e.g., it only took "learn to code" to become obsolete in a couple of decades ... AI has whipped that cream...

thus, this version of 'achieving equilibrium' will drive sociological division and incapacity to even higher levels of undeliverable solutions as more within the flesh continue to become obsolete...

one has to have "will and incentive" to get up off their arse ... the ability to achieve through building and maintaining is our greatest asset ... history has taught us enslavement to any will or whim is a net negative ... that's basically what he's prescribing...

also to wit, why does he want or feel the need to 'earn' 1T in 'salary' ... in that instance alone, all I see is a guy playing a video game yearning to achieve the HI SCORE w/o the forethought how this will incapacitate the future of incentivizing the flesh...

I see that, stink. But TBH, I'm really way too old to worry about the consequences. I'll be dead before any of that blows up. I feel like we have bigger problems to worry about at the moment.

This is exactly why everyone my age and younger hates boomers. You really don't care if your kids or grandkids have a better life than you do? I hope my new son ends up having a much better life and world to live in than things are now, I'm not going to be like "oh well as long as I got mine and I'm dead I don't care what happens to my kids and grandkids." You're exactly right: this is an existential question of what it is to be human. In a world where all of our needs are met by AI and robots, why do we exist? How are we any different from the most base animal? Are we truly then sentient, or worthy/capable of any higher plane (in a religious or philosophical sense)?

And yes, as for Musk, he's ridden a rocket-fueled meme stock quite successfully, but what has he achieved, himself? Impregnated many women (again, with technology rather than flesh) and pranced about with a chainsaw. The one Tesla model he oversaw is the failed Cybertruck, a shadow of the South African Caspir armored truck of his childhood. And he would damn us all to a similar shallow hell of wealth without accomplishment.

And for those unlike you and I, who suffer an emptiness of the soul that they may not even realize, and seek to attach their self-worth to a figure they see as greater than themselves, that's probably enough. A life of ease, with no struggle. No need to exert mind or body.

I consider it Hell.

I agree completely. It's ludicrous to think anyone would feel "poor" with the money Musk already has let alone what his future compensation will be.

I also agree that Musk is looking to create a new dystopia where the unwashed masses are fodder for the whims of a few. Chalk this up as another "win" for late® stage capitalism. This is the stuff that inspires a Marxist revolution. And in our environment - we would actually fit the criteria that Marx laid out for being ready for one. China and Russia skipped some crucial steps to communism...which resulted in fascist/despotic regimes in reality.
