I don't know how you'd do it, the Party seems pretty united right now.

I can think of several Rs I could vote for. Can't think of a single Dem.

My main goal is just to live long enough to be able to vote for president again. First time was 1968. I don't really want 2024 to be the last. :)

I hope you get to vote in many more. 01-ncaabbs

Thanks, brother. That makes at least two of us. :)

I have 15 presidential elections in the books, and who knows how many more?

Since we have gotten off topic with current historical markers, I was discussing papal history yesterday evening with my Catholic colleague and wondered if I would have another pope in my lifetime. Pope Leo is five years older than me. But he looks to be in very good health.

I am up to 12. Elections will go on, baring a socialist/communist takeover.

Certainly possible if AOC becomes President. That Democrat rep from Connecticut let it slip the other day.

I've been able to vote in seven of them, starting with the 2000 general election. As for how many that have happened in my lifetime, that number would go up to 11, starting with 1984. (I was born in '82.)

I once “interviewed” an older family member for a school project, and learned how they had voted in each presidential election. It was a curious list, to be honest. But a woman born in rural/southern Virginia in 1923 supported:

1944 - FDR
1948 - Truman
1952 - Stevenson
1956 - Stevenson
1960 - Nixon
1964 - Goldwater
1968 - Wallace
1972 - Nixon
1976 - Carter
1980 - Carter
1984 - Mondale
1988 - Dukakis
1992 - Perot
1996 - Perot
2000 - Bush
2004 - Bush

She died in 2006

I was referring to how many more I would be alive for, not how many before they stop. :)

She died in 2006

So she has one more than I do. I think I'll make it for one more, at least. My GP says maybe 2 or 3 more.

I can't recall many of mine, b/c most were third party, or write-ins that have faded with time.

1968 - Third Party (Wallace)
1972 - Write-in
1976 - Carter
1980 - Third Party (Anderson)
1984 - Reagan
1988 - Write-in
1992 - Clinton
1996 - Third Party (Perot)
2000 - Third Party or Write-in
2004 - Third Party or Write-in
2008 - Third Party (Barr)
2012 - Write-in
2016 - Third Party (Johnson)
2020 - Trump
2024 - Trump

So I have voted for 2 Dems, 3 Repubs (only one before Trump), and a bunch of no-names, b/c I couldn't stomach the main choices.

Because the Dems have turned Socialist, they will never get my vote again, so for now, in 2028, it's likely for Vance.

since nuts has never gone the path of "again", it's whomever is the nom ... there's not a snowball's chance I'll EVER vote for a donktard...

I find it amusing anyone with a clue ever did...

the donks have never exhibited any form of incentive to gain ... that was always enough for nuts ... why ... simply b/c the fewer that suck on the teat is best method ... it's inarguable they're nothing but party > country ... b/c MAGA, some folk have awakened from the rip van slumber...

Mine were as follows:

2000 - GWB (First-ever election of any kind to vote in as an eligible voter, and it was the closest one since at least 1964.)
2004 - GWB
2008 - McCain
2012 - Romney (I probably should've voted third party here, but didn't even though Romney was a dumb***.)
2016 - Evan McMullen (write-in; should've voted Trump here, but didn't because I was a dumb***.)
2020 - Trump
2024 - Trump

I should have plenty more to go before God calls me home, but you never know. We're not promised tomorrow. 04-cheers

RE: Jen Psaki: Vance is scarier than Trump. Offers to save Usha from her marriage
Hey Stink, I was raised a southern union Democrat. Was handing out campaign buttons for Adlai Stevenson in 1952, when I was 5 years old. My sister is still a die hard Dem. So is my entire family.

Given that background, I only voted for 2 Dems out of 15 tries, lol, and the last one was 33 years ago. Cut me some slack, lol.

I voted for Carter b/c he was a Navy Nuclear officer, so I thought he would be smart, after the debacle we had with Nixon and Watergate.

I voted for Clinton, b/c he promised to balance the budget, which he did. I didn't re-up, though.

Of course, I also have only voted for one R in my life, until Trump 2 & 3.

I am a true independent, unlike that other dude. I want both parties to die.

However, the Dems since 2016 have not turned me into an R, but rather into an anti-D. Which makes me an R by default, at the moment. I'm definitely pro-MAGA, but that's not really classic R. Populist, which I have always been, more or less.

Also, I have two step-daughters that I raised. Both are hard Rs, as are their families.

this is what used to piss of EagleX ... it's a two-party system whether you like it or not ... we never argued about 'that' such...

when we moved here in '74 (was 9 and just learning how politics 'worked'), the 'sip was hardcore dem ... all it took was Carter to remedy that situation on the nat'l scene ... it took a li'l longer as we finally voted for a republican guv in '92 (Fordice) and then went back to silly season donktard with Mabry in '96 ... we've never looked back since that faux pas ... no differently than post Carter in the presidential...

I get how histrionics influence the emo of politics ... it's why as an atheist, I've been apolitical most of my life .... however, I still paid att'n b/c you have to if'n you want a voice in matters...

hell, it took the 'burg over 16 years to finally get rid of token donk in the mayoral.....

sometimes, folks have to learn lessons the hard way ... I'm hardly immune ... but it's just politics to me ... and I can only view from the vein of 1 > 0 ... it's never been a donk .... EVER!

it took awhile to beat it into the 'densities', but they finally figgled it out ... that's all that matters now...
