All I recall is it was wrapped in a towel and found in the woods. Remember, the photo of the rifle that WAS intact turned out not to be the weapon, IIRC. A pellet gun.
And there was a screwdriver on the roof with his DNA on it. And his DNA was found on the rifle trigger and other rifle parts, which happened to be in the woods in exactly the direction he was filmed exiting the campus. His DNA was also found on 3 of the 4 shell casings, including the one that killed Kirk.
There are always surprises in these situations that don't fit well, but thinking that text messages sound phony is not real evidence. It's simply an opinion. And yes, not only did I read every word of the text messages, I also listened to them read aloud in the presser.
Unless somebody is making all this stuff up (sorry, that's a bridge way too far for me), then they have the shooter. I honestly don't recall a more obvious case. Mangione seemingly didn't have nearly the evidence against him that is supposedly linking Robinson to the Kirk shooting, and where is Mangione right now?
Could others be involved before and/or after? Sure, TBD. But a weird sounding bunch of texts is not enough proof for me to refute all the other reported evidence.
This whole "the text messages are phoney" seems like the dumbest and most despearate deflection attempt ever. What, the FBI decided to just randomly pick a kid who was dating a trans kid----sprinkled his DNA on a gun owned by his grandfather---and manufactured text messages---and then got his father to play along with it? Thats the kicker on the "fake messages". The FBI had no idea who this kid was until the kids dad turned him in, The whole "fake text messages" thing is just dumb. More likely the guy did something horrific and freaked out---needed to spill his guts to someone---and then did exactly that to someone he thought he could trust.
Those texts read like panic to me. They also show just how out of sink the guy is with reality. He actually believed his biggest problem was explaining his grandfather's missing gun to his dad.
Clay and Buck are talking about it now. Both feel the texts messages and leaving the rifle don't add up. Buck was an Intelligence officer as his career and said it "doesn't add up". Why leave the rifle? Having a backpack on a college campus does not stand out, if that was where the rifle was somehow placed.
Not under any circumstances, at least for me, does that negate all the other reported evidence that I just listed above.
Plus, it has been reported that the spot where the rifle was found, wrapped in a towel, which I would guess was used to wipe down the rifle, is where he stopped in the woods to change clothes. Which would explain why he took the rifle out of the bag, to get his change of clothes.
He also said in the text messages that he was nervous about leaving the rifle, and had decided to return to get it, but a cop car was parked close to that spot, and he decided not to risk it.
Why did he leave it there initially? Who knows? Panic? Nerves? In a hurry to get away after changing clothes? Plenty of rational explanations, especially since he left evidence that he tried to return to retrieve it.

They have the shooter. They have the gun. They have the bullet. They have DNA. They have a confession from the family. They have online evidence linking Robinson to the crime, before and after, etc.
Anything else becomes irrelevant, until and unless real evidence, not a theory, is discovered indicating anything else.
I generally agreed with this until I saw the text messages. I'm about as far from a conspiracy theorist as you can get. I despise them and have seen how they derail legitimate investigations. However, those text messages between him and his roommate/boyish friend or whatever you call him are fabricated in my opinion. I've been doing this stuff for a long time. Those messages look pre-written to me.
No. 1 -- 22 year olds don't talk that way. Especially in text and especially in a highly stressed situation.
No. 2 -- A person with no criminal record just a killed a man. Not only a man but one of the most recognizable public/political activists in the U.S. among the 14-45 year old demographic. And he's just going to have a chill text chat about it? And go into explicit detail where he left the murder weapon? It's beyond belief.Seriously, go read the messages between them with a discerning eye and tell me they look legit.
No. 3 -- I was struggling with the timing of his exit from the roof, the lack of weapon when he jumped, etc., wondering how it got placed where it did. And the extremely convenient nature of the surrender.
All of that I was able to rationalize because I've seen strange things before that actually had an explanation, but I can't get passed the inauthenticity of his communication/text messages. I smell a rat.
I'm not saying this isn't beyond the realm of possibility.
So... let's give it a bit of time. I seriously doubt a 22 year old, intelligent guy from a decent family who was used as a patsy is going to sit by and NOT rat out the network after he was just told their going to execute him by firing squad.
If he spills the beans, then we'll go from there.
If he never talks, then I think we'll have to be satisfied with what we know.
What if he gets shot by a strip club owner in the police department parking garage?
lol... well, that will definitely tell us something.
But don't forget, LHO was vocal that he didn't do it.

Nope. I have no interest in believing anybody. I try to go strictly by the evidence presented in the media, particularly if it comes from pressers, as opposed to reported stories.
Here's what I believe so far, based on that premise.
* His DNA was on the screwdriver left on the roof.
* His DNA was on the trigger of the alleged murder weapon.
* His DNA was on other parts of the rifle.
* The rifle has been identified as the murder weapon.
* His DNA was found on three of the 4 bullets (including the one that killed Kirk).
* There is a photo of a note found in his home that tells his roommate he is going to kill Kirk.
* There is video of a person jumping off the roof right after the shooting, carrying a bag that was large enough to contain a rifle, especially if it had been broken down. (the screwdriver leads us to believe he either assembled or disassembled the gun on the roof, or perhaps did both, especially since it was lying on the roof, which supports that he used it up there for some purpose).
* His father saw the videos and photos released by the FBI, and he and the mother both agreed that it looked like Tyler.
* He told his roommate lover in the text messages that he did it.
* He told his father that he did it.
* He told his father he would prefer to kill himself rather than turn himself in. His father was the one who convinced him to turn himself in, so the father absolutely believes he did it.
I'm sure there is more. I'm just typing this off the top of my head. FOR NOW, it's more than enough to convince me that they have the right guy, but I'm certainly not naive enough to think that it's a 100% done deal.
I also believe that either he had help, or he at least told people before and/or after about this, and yet those people said nothing to the authorities, so I'm sure there is more to come.
It's not too much too fast? I've never seen a case like this wrapped up with a bow tie that easily. So again, it wasn't just the text messages. It's a) inconsistencies; b) speed; and c)combined all that with those messages. It just looks all a little too convenient to me.

Well, we usually agree on most things here. This one is an exception.
I don't consider it too much too fast. I consider it overwhelming evidence, and LE got unbelievably lucky. Quickly.
But if additional evidence is more overwhelming, and points elsewhere, then I'm good with that, too.
Just curious. What are the inconsistencies that are bothering you?

I saw the DA in charge of the case read them aloud at the presser. And they since have been printed in the media.

OK, so please explain exactly what it is that is bothering you about this, beyond the fact, which you stated, that you don't believe anything the FBI says.
Which to me is kind of odd. With Comey and Wray, I would tend to agree. But not with Patel, especially since he was there in person during the investigation.
I'm actually not picking sides. I just think Patel has yet to give me reason to doubt him, unlike the previous two.

By the way, I'm merely sharing my opinion, I am not trying to convince anyone of anything. I have no idea what the truth is.

The texts were "recovered" as they were deleted. The contents of the "note" was told by the boyfriend as it was destroyed.

And you cannot ever completely delete texts from the net, once they have been sent. They are no longer just on the phone, once you hit send. Recovery has been accomplished a lot, for years.
Plus. look above at all the other evidence. Robinson also confessed to his father.

with piece of **** Apple products if you dont know how to quadruple delete the message it takes about 5 seconds to recover the message. Ive done this on my kids phones and there was hell to pay.
If you do know how to actually delete the messages from the device... it draws out the process but the carrier can easily provide them to law enforcement after warrants.

The text messages are weird because people that age don’t text in sentences with punctuation. If the text said “bruh it was me no cap” it would be much more believable. But he is a weird kid, maybe he just texts like a middle aged man.

I imagine someone in the investigation retyped them for convenience.
I say that b/c they are clearly labeled "Robinson" and "Roommate."
But the real texts recovered from the phone company will have to be produced at trial.

They aren't 13 year olds playing Fortnite.
I have kids of both ages / generations and someone of their age and demographic do not speak like that.
