This is a desperate act by a despotic president but winning is more important than citizens being served in Congress by representatives who truly represent them.

At some point, the federal courts are going to have to step in and end partisan gerrymandering… regardless of party.

If CA tries to touch their districts then they could easily lose seats. They are so gerrymandered now that republicans have been successful in flipping seats in CA, as well as NY. If you over-gerrymander, you basically take somewhat safe democratic seats and make them more vulnerable in order to try to squeeze out more seats.

Texas doesnt have this problem. all republican win their seats by double digits. They have plenty of spare room to play with.

also, the SC just ruled that race based districts are no longer allowed, so dems are about to lose more seats.

Thats only because the state turns districting over to am independent, bi-partisan panel; but a special election would hand that over to the legislature, like in Texas.

like was done in Nashville to strip away a democratic seat?
The largest city in the state… solidly democratic… does not have a single democratic representative in the US house.

If the Democrats in the Texas Legislature want to be obstructionists, do it in their respective chambers in Austin. Don't flee to another state on someone else's dime. Don't like it? Don't run for office. (And this is coming from a native Texan.)

But hey, clutch those pearls, Mensa. It's all you seem to be good at these days.

Eagleaidaholic: Exactly. See, they don't like it when their own tactics are used against them.

I like you, GC. But, I really wish people would stop responding to the likes of Elvis, Mensa and Tom. It's better to ignore them than to respond to them. There's nothing that we on the right is going to say to them that is going to change their mind.

On the upside race based districting pretty much gives us lifetime appointments for retards like Hank Johnson due to their skin color.

Hooray for equality when convenient.

This is why the left wants open borders and charters sanctuary cities. Get illegals on the roles so they can get more dem seats.

Except that CA won't be able to do that without violating civil rights.

TX is redrawing because the districts were drawn based on racial criteria... blatantly illegal.

Quote:BREAKING NEWS from TX Governor Greg Abbott:

“This truancy ends now. The derelict Democrat House members must return to Texas and be in attendance when the House reconvenes at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 4, 2025. For any member who fails to do so, I will invoke Texas Attorney General Opinion No. KP-0382 to remove the missing Democrats from membership in the Texas House.”

WOW.

Quote:If Democrats ignore their duty to their constituents by breaking quorum, they should be found and arrested no matter where they go. The people of Texas elected them to do a job, not run away and hide like cowards. Lawmakers must answer the special session call and pass the important priorities that the Governor has put forward.

My office stands ready to assist local, state, and federal authorities in hunting down and compelling the attendance of anyone who abandons their office and their constituents for cheap political theater.

“We Are At War…The Gloves Are Off”- Tyrannical New York Governor Kathy Hochul Vows Revenge as Texas Seeks to Redistrict (VIDEO)

AND THEY WANT REPUBLICANS TO STOP?

EVERY red state must go, NOW, where possible. Re-draw.

Democratic states like NY & California have independent commissions that manage redistricting. Republican states like TX do it through the partisan legislature

Yep. California and New York will probably have their efforts overturned since they'd be both violating civil rights whereas we're just complying with the SCOTUS ruling.

The clock is ticking, Texas Dems. If y'all were smart, y'all would come back and fight it on the floor of the Texas Legislature. (We're right, but still, have some damn honor!)

Good luck with that.

Just look at the map of Harris County and explain to me how this map was gerrymandered from the start.

The new redistricting is more of a geographical map than the obvious gerrymandered map of today.

Maps should not be drawn to get minority representation

Redrawing maps by geographical sense would also most likely do away with extremist politicians.

Radicals would need to appeal more to centrists to get elected and less to far right and far left groups
