Oh FFS, do you have clue one what states do with their elections? You honestly think states like Florida and Texas just allow anyone to vote? 01-wingedeagle

This is nothing more than big government and a waste of time and money. Something the GOP leaders in DC do best.

So you are strongly against the Democrats "NEW" Border Security Bill then? Right?

I mean, they weren't following the EXISTING Border Security LAWS so we must need some new ones, right?

honestly, it's a hoot-n-half when you guys actually attempt to respond in earnest with that fang fang ... that's more amusing than sig line 3 --->>> sig line 4 (where one expects an equitable response) .... 03-lmfao03-drunk03-lmfao03-drunkCOGSCOGSCOGSCOGS

It's also against the law for them to enter the country illegally yet here they are.

So I thought almost all election law was controlled at the state level. States are the ones who set up voter ID laws if they so choose to have them and states enforce what ID's can be used for that. Is Texas failing miserably at enforcing it's own laws?

I quoted you so feel free to answer. Texas has about as large an illegal alien population as any state in the country, and some of the strictest voter ID laws in the country, so if this is such a widespread issue shouldn't Texas be catching massive numbers of illegal's trying to circumvent state law?

I think you would need to look to the north and east to find where they would try this but the point I was making was that just because there is a law on the books doesn't mean it's being enforced.

RE: Biden* lashes out against bill preventing i
I guess the talking points have been handed down. The loons on X are all saying that the 1996 immigration reform bill denies non-citizens the right to vote. I have searched high and low and can find no text in any legislation that specifically prohibits non-citizens from voting in federal elections but every other post from a loon is a retweet of this:

[Image: GSKu0yJXsAAQjEH?format=jpg&name=medium]

and this:

[Image: GSKxdCiasAA76Si?format=jpg&name=900x900]

A quick scan of the USA Gov site reveals no mention at all about illegals voting in federal elections, nor does a scan through H.R 2022 or the house report accompanied by it. A scan of the table of contents for H. Rept. 104-828 - ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION REFORM AND IMMIGRANT RESPONSIBILITY ACT OF 1996, a report accompanied by H.R. 2022 mentions nothing at all that specifically prohibits non-citizens from voting.

These people are either liars or fools spouting talking points which are easily refuted.

Not sure what bill you're referring to. But I was in favor of the one that was a bi-partisan agreement that trump had killed so he could pass the same thing next year and take credit for it.

Immigration has been a failure of both parties for many years. Congress has sat on this for decades and that's the main reason it is so ****** up currently.

That being said, trying to compare that piece of legislation to this unneeded one just shows how little you understand the issues at play here. 07-coffee3

Geez Louise. Give me a break with your condescending BS. You're simply not sharp enough to be throwing around rhetoric like that - i.e. telling people that they don't understand. There hasn't been a day of any recent year that I haven't understood "the issues at play here" more than you do - and that's an obvious fact. It's no great achievement though as you (like Biden) are a low bar to hurdle. You have an uncanny knack for being on the wrong side of pretty much every topic that you post on here.

The f'ing border was secure when the idiot that you support (BIDEN) took office. HE immediately dismantled everything that was making it secure and then had his administration take action against anybody that tried on their own to make it secure. Just because you and your ilk don't like the existing border laws doesn't (A) give you and your ilk the right to break those laws (they did though), and (B) constitute a need to create another law - especially one that doesn't even secure the border. If you were even 1/10th as smart as you seemingly think you are, you would understand that.

I'll ask you again Mr. sharp as a tack Leftwingtom ..... Why do you think Biden destroyed the security we had at the southern border and allowed millions upon millions of ILLEGALS to invade our country? Doesn't that sound like a threat to our democracy?

Also, do you honestly believe that communist from China should be voting in ANY local, state, or federal election in this country? Doesn't that sound like a threat to our democracy?

Election laws for better or worse (IMO worse) are almost exclusively decided at the state level. I'd rather there be some sort of federal regulation standardizing elections across all of the states so that every state goes by the same set of rules, but that's not a thing and I doubt this board really wants that to be a thing.

In terms of this "problem" of mass amounts of illegals being allow to register and vote it seems like you can close whatever gaps there are by just requiring that you have to provide your full SSN to register vote. Boom, done, you can literally have an AI program pick out from a database people who have attempted to register without a valid number or with a number that doesn't match their name. I'd love to pretend this law doesn't have an additional goal that's not just about preventing illegals from voting, but I'm not retarded enough to buy that.

I've used this analogy before, but it still fits. Let's say that there are two roads (Route 1 and Route 2) between two towns (A and B). Both roads are 25 miles long and have 55 mph speed limits. The police announce that they will patrol Route 1 (Texas) for speeders and will ignore Route 2 (other states with loose election laws). On which route will more speeding tickets be issued? Which route will have more speeders?

That's not entirely accurate as I understand it. If they claim they're escaping certain issues in their country and seeking asylum, they are allowed to enter at a designated POE.

The whole system needs to be addressed...by congress.

I'm going to ask this to you since you are one of the few conservatives on this board who legit operate in good faith. Wouldn't the easiest solution to ensuring only citizens can vote be to just require you have to give your full SSN when you register? In terms of weeding out illegals from registering how would this bill be easier to implement and more effective than just requiring SSN's be given?

Entering illegally is not the same as seeking asylum. Seeking asylum means checking in at a port of entry not following a coyote across the river.

You are correct, the SSN is the easiest way to validate, but that is considered racist by those arguing against that option. As soon as the racism word gets thrown around everybody runs for cover regardless of whether it is legitimate or not.

You cannot get public assistance without an SSN (or at last a green card), you cannot get a job without an SSN, it is pretty much required to have an SSN shortly after you are born in this country and that has been in place for a long time so we should be past the grandfather stage. It is virtually impossible to function in our country without that one basic piece of identification.

There is nothing racist about requiring that... it is an excuse - period.

Can you please cite an example or two of someone saying that requiring an SSN for anything is racist?

If you're referring to Voter ID, it's usually more about ID's like drivers licenses and birth certificates...and that usually only applies to REALLY old black Americans.

You remember wrong. Republicans want to obey laws and the constitution. Democrats want only to win power at any cost. The constitution doesn’t matter. Democracy, as they call it, doesn’t matter. One citizen one vote doesn’t matter. All that matters is power to grift and control.

Everyone with a brain knew why the border has been none existent under democrat rule. The sad part is they really don’t give a chit at all about the people coming across. Only the power and the opportunity to cheat they will give them.

Yes, conservatives want very limited government. The Constitution set a framework to enable very limited government overseen by the people.

Protecting our constitution by shutting down acts which chip away at limited government is not only needed, but encouraged.

Funny, I remember a day when liberals were drooling, mumbling, mentally-ill idiots.

And nothing's changed.

So I'm reading the text of this and thinking back to when I registered to vote my freshmen year in college, and would I have been able to even prove my citizenship based on these standards.

‘‘(1) A form of identification issued consistent with the requirements of the REAL ID Act of 2005 that indicates the applicant is a citizen of the United States."

That wasn't a thing back then (turned 18 in 04), but I only just recently went through the trouble of getting a REAL ID drivers license, and that really was a big pain in the arse that I put off for a long time. Also I remember when I did apply for it I didn't have to provide my birth certificate (as required below for this) all I needed was my current license, SS card and nonsense that proved where I lived.

"(2) A valid United States passport."

I didn't have a US passport back then, and hell only 48% of Americans have one in the first place.

‘‘(3) The applicant’s official United States military identification card, together with a United States military record of service showing that the applicant’s place of birth was in the United States."

Not in the military so not valid.

‘‘(4) A valid government-issued photo identification card issued by a Federal, State or Tribal government showing that the applicant’s place of birth was in the United States."

I'm going to be real honest I don't even know what type of ID falls in this category, but I certainly know I didn't have it as an 18 year old college student.

‘‘(5) A valid government-issued photo identification card issued by a Federal, State or Tribal government other than an identification described in paragraphs (1) through (4), but only if presented together with one or more of the following:
(A) A certified birth certificate issued by a State, a unit of local government in a State, or a Tribal government which—
(i) was issued by the State, unit of local government, or Tribal government in which the applicant was born;
(ii) was filed with the office responsible for keeping vital records in the State;
(iii) includes the full name, date of birth, and place of birth of the applicant;
(iv) lists the full names of one or both of the parents of the applicant;
(v) has the signature of an individual who is authorized to sign birth certificates on behalf of the State, unit of local government, or Tribal government in which the applicant was born;
(vi) includes the date that the certificate was filed with the office responsible for keeping vital records in the State; and
(vii) has the seal of the State, unit of local government, or Tribal government that issued the birth certificate.
(B) An extract from a United States hospital Record of Birth created at the time of the applicant’s birth which indicates that the applicant’s place of birth was in the United States.
© A final adoption decree showing the applicant’s name and that the applicant’s place of birth was in the United States.
(D) A Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a citizen of the United States or a certification of the applicant’s Report of Birth of a United States citizen issued by the Secretary of State.
(E) A Naturalization Certificate or Certificate of Citizenship issued by the Secretary of Homeland Security or any other document or method of proof of United States citizenship issued by the Federal government pursuant to the Immigration and Nationality Act.
(F) An American Indian Card issued by the Department of Homeland Security with the classification ‘KIC’.’’.

So I could have given the first part of that, a valid drivers license, but yeah I certainly didn't carry my birth certificate around (and at this point I'm not even certain where my birth certificate is I'm assuming my parents have it somewhere). Who in the actual hell has ever gotten "An extract from a United States hospital Record of Birth created at the time of the applicant’s birth which indicates that the applicant’s place of birth was in the United States." As a 37 year old man I wouldn't have a clue how to obtain that, certainly wouldn't have at 18. Rest of that nonsense doesn't apply to me as a white man born to 2 US Citizen parents in the state of NC.

If this law as currently written was in place when I was in college and turned 18 I would not have been able to prove my citizenship, which is pretty freaking ridiculous I could easily provide my SSN to prove that but that's not even on the list of things that prove citizenship here.

Wouldn't the easiest solution to ensuring only citizens can vote be to just require you have to give your full SSN when you register? In terms of weeding out illegals from registering how would this bill be easier to implement and more effective than just requiring SSN's be given?

Bottom line…The left want illegals to vote.
There are laws preventing that.

The left only care about laws that benefit themselves.
