If only republicans could come forward with some specific proposals, instead of just, "We're not Biden," I think they could make some huge inroads here. If republicans got 35-40% of the Black vote we could see an almost Reagan-esque blowout.
And I think a combination of Bismarck universal private health care and a subsistence-level universal basic income following either Milton Friedman's negative income tax ot the Boort-Linder prebate/prefund could get them in that range.
Mistake #1 is thinking these same voters would vote for all or even most republicans. To a lot of people, black and white.....
Trump is not a "republican"
Lets just talk about working America black and white most don't trust republicans any more than democrats. At this point in history any overall gains with republican votes from this group is basically your favor saying....
enemy of my enemy
But that's no where close to the same trust these voters have in Trump or willing to turn out in a large enough voting block when Trump is not on the ballot.
Maybe I'm the stupid one and off on this but in my view a lot of people just dont seem to get "it". To a lot of working Americans Trump is that THIRD PARTY that most people who call themselves libertarians scream for but just dont get.
Those 'libertarians' that say well Trump isn't this or he's not that....
will never get it. NO ONE, let me repeat, NO ONE, is going to fit into that box of where a voter agrees with 100% or 90% or most likely 75%. So the 'libertarians' will never have that 3rd party president.
To get this back on topic....
most black voters know republicans in the house is going to screw them over just as much as the democrats. They know this because just like the working white voter they saw how the refused to back Trump till the polls turned. Then a lot of the party still hedged their bet/vote went against Trump.
This change in black voting is because of Trump and those fighting to change the course of the republican party at the roots.
