RE: Matt vs McCarthy
Some of the same people around the internet that were cheering for Gaetz voting with democrats to remove McCarthy are some of the same people flipping out over 20 republicans not voting for Jordan and saying they are voting for democrats. Which they actually didn't do. They just voted for other republicans.

Now I wish they would all vote for Jordan and get this over with, but holy crap some people are completely unable to see the hypocrisy of what they are saying. No thought whatsoever.

Like Democrats, the curent RINO Republican rebels voted for someone other than Jordan---causing the Speakership to remain vacant. Just so everyone is on the same page----Gaetz and his group never voted for Jefffries either.

Correct. A majority of Republicans is not a majority of the entire House.
You were talking about Republicans not the entire house correct?

To win the conference nomination vote you just need the majority of Republicans. To win on the House floor Jordan can only lose 4 Republican votes---thats not a just a majority---it almost requires unanimity. My point is that "a majority of Republicans" voting for a specific Speaker is not much of a measuring stick for "where the Party stands" with respect to where the actual philosophical core lies within the Republican conference. Once it appears that a person might become Speaker, people line up behind that person for reasons that are well outside the range of core belief.

The Dems show unity with their minority in every important vote.

RE: Matt vs McCarthy
How do you screw tings up as badly as republicans have screwed this up?

You start by not having a strong policy platform or agenda.
Then you continue by not having strong leaders.
Then you end up herding cats.

Democrats have a policy agenda. It is a harmful one IMO, but it is one. Then they have leaders who lead. That's how they avoid clusterflocks like this.

The last time republicans had a policy agenda and leadersip was Newt's Contract in 1994. How did that turn out? Pretty good, until they all decided to go chase Monicagate instead of govern.

RE: Matt vs McCarthy
After listening to the reporting tonight, I don't think Jordan will make it. The Repubs are just never all on the same page.

Jordan got 12 less votes today than McCarthy did when he was ousted. They're fighting over trivial sh!t. Like whose supporters twisted too many arms too hard. Good grief. Imbeciles.

There are reports that some no votes will flip to yes tomorrow, but also reports that some yes votes will flip to no.

I think McCarthy had 203 votes after his first vote. Seems like getting Jordan over the top is in the range of the doable. There is a lot more going on and much less time to fool around than there was in back in January when this process played out for McCarthy. I think eventually, the pressure from the media and from the voters back home on the whiners will eventually push this to a conclusion. Despite all the criticism of the Gaetz group---its instructive to note the Gaetz group never tried to cut a deal with Democrats and Gaetz did eventually negotiate an agreement that allowed a RINO Leader his group absolutely did not want and did not trust---to claim the gavel. Can the RINOs be grown up enough to do the same thing? So far---it doesnt appear so.

Jordan strikes me as a fighter (which distinguishes him positively from other republican "leaders") but I still think he is a dummy.

Republicans need a leader who can LEAD; and one in te senate too.

A fighter might be more than enough. Its not like Pelosi ever struck me as a MENSA candidate.

Gaetz is the only one who qualifies as a RINO since he voted with the Democrats to remove a Republican speaker. There are 8 who can't call anyone a RINO without looking as stupid as the people who still believe the Trump-Russia collusion theory.

Yeah. We don't need someone like Trump who alienates people (not that Jordan is nearly as bad as Trump in that category). We need someone who can unite the Republicans.

I could see Marsha Blackburn as the next Senate Majority Leader for those reasons.

Progress cant happen without change. Change and progress toward conservative goals is never ever going to happen with moderates and purple RINO's running the show. Those 8 are interested in a Republican conference that behaves in a more conservative manner---rather than being Democrat Lite. Sorry----Im all for that. If they had to break a few eggs to get there---so be it. Nobody is saying the purple RINO's cant vote in their their little Uniparty way----but they sure as hell should not be leading the Republican Party. The RINO's can be useful as a bipartisan bridge to compromise----but that bridge should come after we pass conservative legislation that reflects the goals of the Party. Its of course going to get watered down in a compromise with the Democrat controlled Senate----but dont start negotiating from the compromise position you hope to end up at. Start further to the right so you have some chips to give away during negotiations.
