For someone who professes to respect the integrity of our American system of justice, tanq., there is no one on this board who has done more than you to harm its reputation.
Whether it is a “leap of faith” or simply honest disgust on the part of the American citizenry, there are too many real and glaring instances of appallingly disparate treatment afforded to BLM/Antifa v. Jan. 6 defendants; Joe Biden/Hillary Clinton v. Donald Trump; Hunter Biden v. ANY other American facing tax or gun problems.
Sneering dismissiveness is your right. But it is far and away the least effective method of answering honest concerns about our system of American justice.
To denote 'it is only happening because Trump is Republican' is simply stupid in the most asinine manner. I will note your disagreement with that. And you angst.
No surprise on either reaction.
You remain a curiosity in my book, tanq. BigTigerMike thinks that you are just an ordinary troll, fishing for reactions on this near-meaningless forum. And that would seem to be the simplest explanation.
But I actually think there is more depth to you than that. For me, the question is more complex and instead comes down to (i) whether you are a Trump plant or a progressive plant, one who is effectively stoking outrage amongst the right-leaning masses in order to displace any attention that would otherwise be paid to far more effective Republican candidates; or (ii) whether you honestly are as self-deluded as you present yourself here and truly think that your comments are based in fact and logic. They are not.
Either way, the end result is that when Trump is the eventual nominee it will come at the severe handicapping of the Republicans' chances of winning in the general election. Worse, that short-term gain for the Democrats will come at the more devastating long-term damage done to the nation's faith in our justice system.
And you will then be able to look at yourself in the mirror and know- - either with pride or shock, that's up to you - - that you and others like you had a hand in making that happen.
Adopted,
the plan that Trump explicitly went down to short circuit the election was disgusting.
I have zero problem with those actions being taken up as a criminal act. Zero.
If they deem Trump not guilty, then so be it.
I will look at myself in the mirror and say that I am able to call a corrupt set of actions as corrupt. And would do the same if anyone repeated them.
I dont have a problem with him lying to the public about losing the election, or any state elections. He has every ability to do that under our Constitution.
I dont have a problem with him taking the several states to court over his perceptions of the election outcome. He has every right to do that in our legal system.
What I do have a problem is is trying to act on a plan that would illegally short circuit the elections of several states --- when all those electoral voters had been fully certified and the mounds of lawsuits had been put to rest. I think that is incipently improper, and to my viewpoint -- illegal.
In that manner, I have zero issue with the Federal and state charges being levied against him and others for those specific actions.
No one pointed a gun at Trump's head and said 'try to get your VP to break the law and reject votes by fiat.' Wash, rinse, and repeat that same 'no one pointed a gun at Trump's head' for about 10-15 other actions he undertook to short circuit the presidential election in his favor by fiat.
If you have other facts you want to toss out there on the Jack Smith J6 prosecution -- I am all ears. Same stands for the MAL prosecution, and the Fulton Co. prosecution.
'DOJ is Stasi' does not fit that category of 'fact', mind you.

I agree that a Trump candidacy will act in that manner. That is not a rationale for overlooking the issues with Trump. I personally dont want a person so corrupt in the office as to even attempt to short circuit an election. Boo fing hoo that that seems to fit Trump in a fairly decent manner.

Yes, how dare the actions of trying to short circuit the electoral process in one's favor through illegal means should be brought out. That is abjectly and fundamentally terrible.
If you have any facts on the particular issue that tend to show Trump shouldnt be prosecuted, as I've told you before -- Im all ears.
Instead what seems to come from your quarter is 'stasi', 'gestapo', and how ashamed I should be for actually believing in the rule of law if/when applied to DJT. Just as you have done that last example in a full post above.
