I was watching that score. I was able to watch off and on and for the most part early on GCU was playing lackluster. They must have come alive. Good win on the road for GCU! Congrats.

It’s been a good night for road teams.

Lopes are winning, but they are so brutal to watch. The first half of games seem to be the worst. I honestly haven't been able to sit through a full 40 minute game yet this season.

Sure seems like we play just under the level of our opponent.

UTA will rise to the occasion eventually. You always have. The WAC has an emphasis in basketball and a half dozen or more really seriously good teams. In time UTA will attract the players and develop the program to be competitive. Sometimes it takes a bit of time. But, it can happen quickly on occassion, but normally takes a little bit longer. One thing I would count on, UTA will not be bottom dweller for too long. I do wish you were building a football program as well. I still remember your years ago teams that were fun to watch and fine competitors. It would be great to have a central/west Texas trio across all sports. Travel would be so much better.

Seattle played the Texas JV teams this trip and barely beat UTRGV. Congrats?

Calm down your school should beat UTA and UTRGV, they are the worst teams in the WAC. We will see how the Redhawks do on their SH and SFA swing at the end of the month. I'm not sold that SU would make either game close if their best player plays 8 minutes total on the road trip b/c he got hurt. SU more than likely goes 0-2 in that scenario. Not to mention their best rebounding post is out for the season. In my best Aggie "voice" "once you make a NCAA tournament this century then you can talk" lol.

SFA is always tough to beat at home. A five-point GCU loss isn't bad.

SUU beats ACU 74-72 in a hard fought game. The Wildcats missed a lot of shots they normally make but maybe it was SUU's superior height and good defense.

ACU continually failed to adjust their offense in the 2nd half and set up their shots. They fought hard but kept doing what wasn't working.

Finishing well is a real problem for this year's Mavericks. They seem to get close with 5 minutes remaining, then go terminally cold. Maybe the coaches need to practice the end of game scenario, and perhaps give up altogether on any three point offense, since they have had so little success with threes. At least when UTA shoots from the paint, they have been doing pretty well with put backs and offensive rebounds.

Barring an end of season miracle, I can see the GY era coming to an end pretty soon, and that's too bad. Still missing Scott Cross!

Young will easily get another year. Obviously the era of the transfer portal and constant change make this completely shadowy, but four of our top scorers are non-seniors and nine of our top ten. Number one is a sophomore while three and four are freshman. Our top three rebounders are a sophomore and two freshman.

For a young team that has been on the threshold, but unable to get over, he stands a chance of doing what Mark Nixon did, two losing seasons to start, but winning, competitive teams in the final two.

This team needed one of the following pieces to be above .500 or better: a consistent scoring threat from outside or an efficient point guard who could direct the offense. Young already has a three-star prospect from Duncanville committed. I feel he's close.

I hope this isn't a case where we are always on the under of a competitive game. After a third year, we will know more.

I didn't expect NMSU to ever have such a down year, so we're sucking in good company, I suppose.
