Begin the speculation now.

Tulane is willing pay in the $2-3m range for a good coach. The conference is weaker than before, so returning to a bowl game is VERY possible provided the whole situation isn't a tire fire.

Who should they hire?

As I’ve said, with our markets and academics we are a top tier destination. Bill O’Brien would make sense as would Todd Monken or Paul Chryst. We really could have anybody we want.

BOB would destroy whatever is left at Tulane. Please not him.

Heard that we're going to contact Will Hall.

We'd pay over double what he gets there - so he'll take it.

I sure hope that’s not true because he’s just a SBC coach which is beneath us but also it would be kinda fun to give USM a friendly reminder of who is ahead of them on the totem pole.

Sumrall at Troy was Tulane's DC at one point. He's doing well at Troy.

The correct guy can come in and win 7 games next year while he rebuilds.

I don't think he belongs in the NFL but he would be a great college coach. He did very well at Penn State and I think he'll do good at Tulane. I wouldn't trust him if I was a blue blood school but for a program competing with resources Id give him a try.

What about UAB's previous HC? He said he is open to return to the sidelines for the right job.

Will Hall, Jim Svaboda (sp?) or Chris Hampton. There is no reason to make a culture change.

...at the rate Auburn is 'whiffing' with their choices, Clark might end up on the Plains (he interviewed there before they settled on Harsin a few seasons back).

I would love to see BC back in the coaching world, but not as big of a fan of seeing him as a conference foe... lots of options opening up, tho...

There are a few good SB options on the table right now. Why not give one a nice $1.5m a year pay increase?

A coach that can negotiate the G5 madness is key. Some of the ex-P5 guys aren't the right hire.

I think Will Hall needs one more year to prove himself as a D1 coach...he was 6-6 and was not a very good play caller this year. Tulane will go with someone with more head coach experience even though Hall would jump for the big pay raise and it would kill USM's momentum with in-state recruiting.

Tulane should hire Scottie Mo while he is still available

Monken would be an inspired choice if they could get him
