Todd Monken makes 2mil at GA as OC. He’s also probably a top 5 choice for not just a P5 job but an SEC job. Highly doubtful he’d take on Tulane but if it happened, I loved him here. Heck of a coach

Fritz is on 2.3 at Tulane.

Tulane would very much be borrowing him for 2-3 years, it would not be a long term hire.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Hell, Notre Dame and Oklahoma are losing head coaches to lateral moves now. I honestly didn't think Fickell would jump for Wisconsin, but he did, and was apparently talking to them for weeks without any of us knowing it, so nothing surprises me anymore in regards to coaches leaving for supposedly greener pastures. Find the guy who can win the most games the quickest, and worry about what happens if he leaves when it happens.

Tulane has to decide if they are willing to overpay for Fritz or actually do their homework and find someone new that is undervalued in the market (and there are options here).

Let's say he leaves. If the new guy comes in and goes 8-4 then 10-2, are you really that mad about losing him after two years? He didn't waste your time!

I think what his agent would tell Monken is if he stumbles at Tulane at all, he will lose much of of the hype he gained as OC of GA. It’s a risk vs reward thing for the top coordinators.

"anybody (you) want"? Are you kidding me? Dude you've had one great season, a REALLY great one, but Tulane is in no way a top tier destination. Give me a break.

I agree with this. Holtz would be a good choice for this job.

I know what you're thinking, but this is the type of move that fails at a place like Tulane.

Skip might be a huge success, but at ECU and LaTech, I believe he had the advantage of being able to sign non-qualifiers while being part of CUSA. Not part of the AAC deal…plus Tulane’s higher academic requirements.

Totally agree here. Monken will get the top job at a blue-blood school next. And he will do well.

Bill Clarke would be a great fit. Del McGee the Georgia running back coach would be a great hire as well.

False, that’s incorrect. Tulane is a top tier destination. We have a sizzling market(what coach wouldn’t want to live in Nola?) we have top notch academics and we can pay. We are also in a top conference and have a proven history of success. Of course this is a top tier job and we will get a top tier coach if our current one leaves which at the moment it does not look like he’s going anywhere.

We are not hiring a runnings backs coach lol let’s get serious here.

He is beneath us as well. I understand winning six games at USM gets you a statue outside their tiny stadium but that won’t cut it at Tulane. Although it would be hilarious to steal their coach and let them know we are hundreds of miles ahead of them in the pecking order of college athletics. But still, it’ll never happen. Fritz may not even leave so this could all be a bunch of message board poppycock.

he took over a dumpster fire and managed to get them from 3-9 in year 1 to 6-6+Bowl bound in year 2. He coached at Tulane under Fritz plus at Memphis under Norvell and he has a keen offensive mind.

That may be true but no amount of alcohol on bourbon street can wash that southern miss stink off of him now.
