Here is the box score. https://gvsulakers.com/sports/mens-baske...core/11640
Looks like OU had no trouble with GVSU last night. Seems the game was over at half time. OU led by 15 half way thru the first half.
EDIT: Tweet from Tony Paul: https://twitter.com/TonyPaul1984/status/...IrshlE_Pjg
We'll get another chance to see them next week. Either GVSU is not as good as Bell thinks, OR Oakland is damn good (I think the later).
Oakland has talent. I'm out of season on MBB. Need to check up on Jalen Moore. Apparently he is a real talent. When he went down hurt the team delated (per Blue Ribbon) losing 6 of their last 10.
BTW, OU added 3 D-I transfers including Rocket Watts, Hervey, and Bowman. Top 3 scorers last night were Moore, Hervey and Watts. They will be tough. Our game will be a beauty. Two very under-rated teams.
So for hoop fans in S.E MI they have the improving Pistons, strong UofM, improving EMU, tough OU, and UDM. Unlike, FB where UofM is very impressive while EMU and Lions have been inconsistent.

Should be a good crowd for this exhibition game. There's a season ticket holder event with the coaches before the games.

What time and where in the George Gervin Game above centers is the ticket event with coaches? Remember when GVSU beat MSU in exhibition in 2007 or 2008 on the Big ten network? Powells pub fan remembers.

Good thing EMU is doing 'value added' to season ticket packages.
Whenever there is a plenty (surplus) of good seats vis-à-vis demand, then adding value some other way is necessary and a good thing.

GVSU barely finished above .500 in the GLIAC and lost in the first round of the conference tournament. I don't think two transfers from the MAC would vault them to status as No. 1 in D2. Ferris was way better and would be more likely to have a Top 25 ranking coming into the season.
Regardless, I think OU will be pretty good with the additions they made and a proven coach in Kampe.

Yeah, I checked their website. Two MAC transfers, each averaged about 5 ppg.
I don't see them as a D-II power, but I know virtually nothing about GLIAC / D-2 hoops.

This is what I see from the D-II men's basketball rankings. Completely different than Steve Bell's.

There have been a few guys from my area go to Findlay here in Ohio so I've had at least a passing knowledge of D2 hoops for a while. Can't say I've ever heard of Steve Bell. Maybe his rankings for other things are better, but his D2 rankings are junk.

A meaningless game we should win by 30 or more. If we give up 50 points it's going to be a long season.

No radio, TV, etc. for tonight's game? Think we are reliant on our posters for updates, insights and commentary (hopefully positive).

Say what??????
Here is GVSU vs Oakland. https://gvsulakers.com/sports/mens-baske...core/11640
I get your point is that Oakland only beat GVSU by 16, so a counter argument to Super.
But, if you look at the box score, Rocket Watts led in minutes, but did not score particularly well- third for Oakland with 11 points on only 3-11 shooting. Rocket was somewhat productive and showed a lot of potential when he started as a freshman at MSU. Did he have an injury at some point? His college playing career seems to have taken on some decline… or am I not remembering his story line correctly?
