Goes into every FBS school and compares each of the top 7 leagues individually with a lot of detail.

Alabama not only out in front but basically placing a finger on the scale for the rest of the SEC west.

Good find, 1845 Bear!!! I never realized how much Washington State was undervalued until I took a look at those graphs. If transportation routes could be improved for Cougars fans, I'm sure that they would have a stadium at least equal to Utah's.

Didn't expect to see UMass on here, with our 6 games and 0.468 million viewers. Very small sample size for sure, but somehow not the worst - really goes to show how few people actually have access to see a lot of the CUSA games and such.

The Ohio State/Michigan game gets massive ratings. Curious how the B1G averages would look without that game involved.

They actually break that exact scenario down in the Big Ten charts.

The biggest takeaway is just how much the bluebloods/top brands pull up viewership for the rest of the conference. With OSU and UM in the picture, MSU’s top viewership is around ~11M. Without them, it was 4.5M. Similar for SEC. LSU’s (a top brand themselves) top draw was ~17M. Take Bama out and it was 7.5M.

I saw where they broke Ohio State and Michigan completely out, but I was just talking about that one game. Last year's game was 15.9 million. That's an incredibly large number that is throwing off the averages.

Which just goes to show the B12 needs to be very afraid of their next contract without OU and UT

Thanks for the number crunching. Is it possible to see the results if the top 3 brands are removed from each conference?

Technically yes but it’s another example of the Vandy/Miami available data being misleading. It’s a narrow edge for App St but it’s also comparing ten fewer games. It’s not realistic to assume App would average enough over the next ten if we had the data for those games so ECU is likely ahead. Also ECU’s number goes up if you take the average of ten fewer games to even it out with App’s sample.

It’s going to be a hit but with the demand for live college sports and the remaining & added brands you’ll have something solid Vs the payouts the ACC (can’t go to market til 2034) and the PAC 12 get.

Won’t be what it could have been with UT and OU obviously but shouldn’t see the raw amounts backslide since the rights valuation keeps escalating for the content in general across all the P5.

Big 10 is going up 2.25 times in just 6 years. Big 12 and Pac 12 deals are a dozen years old.

Possibly but would require a few hours to get it presentable.

However this analysis was done with the remaining 8 and pac 12 and losing two schools for the Big 12’s ten team roster is a similar % hit to the 14 team ACC losing three hypothetically. 20% Vs roughly 21%. PAC catches a break not losing USC and Oregon and instead swapping UCLA in though.

However losing the top two from the SEC or Big Ten isn’t likely to switch much up at all given how many secondary giant brands sit there.

Exactly. Huge increase was coming with the original roster and the new one will get a smaller increase now.

CUSA is basically invisible unless you have CBS College Sports on your cable (not consistently there across providers in my experience)

The rest of the games you tend to have to hunt for online. BU at UTSA 2018 was on Facebook!

You're talking about unknown data though, which we can't do anything with besides speculate. Based on the data we have, Appalachian State averages more viewers than East Carolina.

It's interesting to me in the MWC graphic that Wyoming is one of the better draws. Such a small state and necessarily limited fan base, but I've always felt like state flagships have some additional value that isn't always captured in the population/tv household type metrics.

In the case of Wyoming I would argue it's not so much that they are a state flagship, it more that they are the only D1 school in the state - so if you a football fan in Wyoming, you really only have one option on who to root for locally.

App State has 27 games averaging 587k.

ECU has 37 averaging 546.

It's unlikely App State would have averaged enough on the next ten to be higher on a 37 game sample.

ECU's top 27 average 707k but albeit against a much better opposing schedule.
