Whichever team can raise the biggest NIL slush fund and lure out the best players from the portal? Putting that aside, App, San Diego St, Memphis and UTSA.

I think that a lot of people are sleeping on Troy's potential. Obviously, our previous coach was not too bright, so it was time to wipe the slate clean. I really like our chances with our new coach that we grabbed from Kentucky, and I do believe that he will surprise some folks.

I think Memphis has an immediate advantage, but i see one of the SBC teams breaking out then it'd be a tool up between them and Boise

In addition to the schools I voted for, my "other" vote is for JMU.
Mountain West and Sun Belt will be the "power" G5 leagues.

Out of curiosity, why group Liberty MT and LT together and not WKU? Same conference and all.

UNLV and New Mexico
All the pieces are in place for them to emerge the same way Utah did in the 2000's.
Both play in a growing state with no current P5 programs to compete with. UNLV has the additional advantage of playing in a brand new NFL stadium. It's only a matter of time.

Not an advantage as those home games are usually 2/3rds of 4/5ths empty.

Doesn't matter. Playing in a brand new NFL stadium in Las Vegas will be a major advantage for them - - IF AND ONLY IF UNLV STARTS PLAYING GOOD FOOTBALL. If they do that, their attendance will grow, and if they play in the PAC-12, their attendance in that NFL stadium will be terrific.
A strong case can be made that the idea that P5 conferences are dying to add teams that play their games in tiny 35,000 seat stadiums, just because they "don't look as empty" is fundamentally misguided.

I did it because I thought the CUSA should have two slots in the poll, but didn't expect the trio of schools to get as many votes as I thought WKU (or UAB or UTSA) would. So far, the results are in line with expectations.
It's impossible to create a poll that will please everyone.

Wow! This is a competitive poll! The MWC and SBC are dominant in the early voting. App State and SDSU have gotten off to an early lead, but Boise, Marshall, and Louisiana are close behind.

NDSU has not moved to FBS? How do you expect them to be a G5 power? Expect them to keep dominating FCS and could compete with any G5.

Liberty. They now have a conference home for football and have an easy path to the NY6 than the rest in the list. I expect Liberty to run through C-USA 4.0 like Boise State did with the WAC the first decade of this century.
As for Boise State being in the poll, they’re not an emerging school or have the potential to be one. They already are the G5 program and media darling.

Vegas is now an NFL town. That will be the "thing" to do go to Raider games. That stadium isn't a net add for UNLV. Playing in NFL stadiums hasn't helped USF, Temple, or even the U. You could actually say part of the decline of the U was when they lost the Orange Bowl. Pitt, which has a strong football history, hasn't benefited from losing their on campus stadium.

I'm going to unapologetically pimp my own school here and say we have just as much a chance as nearly all the teams on the list. We're the only school to ever run the table the first season in FBS, and we're getting away from an offensive philosophy where the selection of coaches gets more sparse every year.

Schools such as Pitt and Temple have benefitted from playing in NFL stadiums. That's why they're still playing in NFL stadiums. Both of them had their own stadiums and chose to give them up for the advantages that playing in a NFL stadium offered them.
