AsT usually presents a challenge for the Tigers and that is a good thing.
Wow didn't even know that part of it. Interesting deal with Kroger.
Every ticket purchased at Kroger will buy 3 meals for the needy. It’s a great give back to the community.
Never understood why some Tiger fans always find the Kroger involvement a mark of shame for the program. It is really a very good example of municipal involvement with the Tigers.
It's the perception that we're not able to sell tickets unless they're discounted. Especially since other schools in the area are usually sold out and have waiting list for tickets.
We have 59k available tickets for every game and a fanbase of maybe 30k, so we have to discount tickets; yet that kills our opportunity to increase football revenues & forces the university to extract more from the altruistic few who are willing to overpay in support of the program.

Season tickets are as low as $99. How many of that 30K do you think buy those ?

I will tell my son-in-law, who is a Hog fan but still likes the Tigers, he can bring buy these tickets and bring 3-4 members of his family. So, that's 4-5 more butts in seats.

RE: $10 Kroger Tickets
At least it’s some affordable tix for 1 game. The bozos at the ticket office are still calling and emailing about why I didn’t renew football tix. Guess I will have the same pleasure when it’s time to not renew hoops. How many times can “GFY, you’re too expensive” be heard before they finally give up and stop calling?

$99 for season tickets @ 50 yard line seats too expensive?
I get some locations prices have changed or require a tsf donation recently, but for myself when I switched from the corner/end zone price point to Fun zone 2 years ago I feel I was rewarded with an improved view, lower overall cost, & an extra seat.

I dropped Stadium Club this year because they doubled the price/required donation over a span of two years. Not getting tickets wasn't an option for me, so I went with visitor side seats between the 30 and 40. Luckily some people on the home side didn't renew, so I was able to move there.
Still, it's ending up costing $3,800 (donation plus tickets) for four season tickets. And when I asked about moving from the $300 silver lot to the pink or blue lot, they told me there weren't any openings.
On one hand that means that the demand is there and they can make money (which is good for the program). On the other hand many of us are experiencing sticker shock.

I prefer fans who can't afford to go over fans who call themselves Tigers but hate the program.

That was similar to my case but at a much lower price point. My original seats in the corner price had rose to the point where it was cheaper for me to buy 4 fun zone tickets mid field than it was to buy 3 in the corner. So I moved about 15-20 rows higher & 40 yards to the center & I am much happier with my current seats & view & have an additional seat.
There was a time 10 +/- years ago, before the lower level chair backs were added that I could buy season tickets on row 14 @ the 20 yard line for $55. I understand those days are gone, but not buying season tickets because they were upgraded & their prices went up never crossed my mind, I just had to move to a seat in my price point, which the UM does a great job of offering multiple price points.

If you can’t afford Memphis football tickets… well, I’d offer up high school football, but its about the same. SYS & PAA are options, I suppose.

You are aware of the impact televising every game has had on live attendance, right?

It basically has no significance if the team is successful.

RE: $10 Kroger Tickets
It’s not just the cost of tickets. It’s the inadequate parking, it’s that hour drive round trip to the stadium, it’s the $9 beers. It all adds up over the course of a season. We’ll still go to a game or 2, but just not worth the hassle of going to every game. Not when I can sit on my patio, watch multiple games all day long and not have to deal with the crowds.

I ended up doing the same. We were getting three seats, but went to four seats when we moved cheaper. It’s time for the six year old to start coming with us. She hasn’t been since she was free.

I make posts like this to point out we have way too many tickets available for the demand at the Liberty Bowl… which then forces us to bastardize the value of the product. Fans who would pay “x” can move 1 section over & now pay 1/2 that amount.
How in the hell can the school ever expect to make the current football reality profitable?

You are answering your own question. How can the school have faith that the fanbase as a whole will help them raise $200 million?

No. I am explaining why years & years of playing in an oversized concrete municipally owned behemoth of a stadium has cheapened the fan experience & expectation; & the only way out of that death spiral is to invest in an OCS tailored to the needs of the university & not to the needs of the city & local developers.
