Exactly. No one in North Carolina cares either.

It's good to be back in a conference with the ECU fans, who were always more full of themselves than their team warranted. They're fun to poke fun at.

Most of us Pirates are good spirited. Some take things overboard. It is what it is.

Sorry, you don't get to do that. If you want to drool with envy of a stadium you don't have, feel free to watch a USFL game. Great views of the stadium with very few bodies in the way as you look.

On December 11, 2009, the Board of Trustees approved a financing plan for football, which called for the university to borrow $40.5 million in state-issued bonds to construct a permanent football stadium and field house, citing a favorable bidding environment and greater interest in ticket sales as their reasons for building a new facility rather than expanding American Legion Memorial Stadium.[11] On February 12, 2010, the University of North Carolina Board of Governors approved a student fee increase to fund the construction of the facility.[12] Students pay an annual fee of $120 to fund the stadium's construction debt. A separate fee, which will begin at $50 and increase annually until it reaches $200, will pay for regular operating costs.[13] On August 2, 2010, North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue signed the debt service fee bill into law to clear the way for stadium construction.[14] The final design of the new stadium was displayed at the Board of Trustees meeting o

Do, or do not. There is no “try”.

Rice looks forward to dominating SMU in the AAC like we’ve done at every other stop along the way.

SWC(89-95) 7-0
WAC(96-03) 5-3
CUSA(04-12) 5-4

Last game: Rice 36, SMU 14
17 wins, 7 losses

SMU be like: but, we haven’t lost to ‘em in ten years!
Enjoy 2022.

Do, or do not.

clt says Charlotte has a nice on campus stadium adjacent to light rail connecting to uptown and south end. And we are getting ready to expand.

We are good, pal.

We're extremely proud of the one thing that our fans can 100% control. It means more than living vicariously IMHO.

IMO, ECU is arguably the saddest AAC story, maybe even moreso than my USF or say UConn.

ECU was once known as "50,000 strong" and they had this big chip on their shoulder, relished taking the fight to the ACC Carolina schools that they lived in the shadow of.

But that fan base has dwindled dramatically in the AAC. What is it now, more like 35,000 strong? Sure, still way better than USF and the great bulk of G5 schools, but not anywhere close to what it used to be.

ECU showed signs of life in 2021. I hope that continues.

I don't disagree with that, I do think everyone in this league outside of Tulane had a financial head start on us. Big East/AAC membership. It also shows how one bad hire can torpedo a program.

I think we look like at least an 8-4 team this year, I think we will be back on track as long as Houston is our HC. Wouldn't at all be surprised to see us challenge for the league title this year.

It was never 50K "strong" but it was 30-35K "strong" with 10-15K fair weather fans. That's our fanbase... Still way better than any other G5. Nobody else would draw that many with the down years we've had. At rock bottom we still drew more fans that 90% of the G5.

Being 'reduced' to 35K fans is a measure of the strength of their fan base, not a weakness. It is P5 level strength. Most bottom feeding P5's draw 35K or less, yet still collect the big checks. Here in Eugene where I live now, folks told me that the U of Oregon regularly drew around 30-32K when they were a middling PAC 12 program. Now with a string of winning seasons the 54K capacity crowd is a regular occurrence. Unfortunately a lot of fans are fair weather. ECU will rebound. In my book they are still the envy of the AAC.

Yeah I don't get the haterade. Show me a non-P5 team outside of BYU that can pull 35k with three 3-9 seasons in a row.

ECU diehards would tell you (just like most media reports) is that ECU didn't come close to averaging "reported numbers" during their down spell.

In 2017...ECU "announced" an average attendance of 36,727 per game.

Actual attendance average per game that year: 17,876.

Numerous media reports have noted how ECU's actual numbers were way off from what was being reported.

ECU diehards would tell you (just like most media reports) is that ECU didn't come close to averaging "reported numbers" during their down spell.

In 2017...ECU "announced" an average attendance of 36,727 per game.

Actual attendance average per game that year: 17,876.

Numerous media reports have noted how ECU's actual numbers were way off from what was being reported.

clt says we had the opposite issue at Charlotte. The event staff were not scanning all fans phones as they entered the stadium.

clt knows we need to continue to grow attendance, but we gotta count all of our fans.

First you try to steal USF's model of using a pro stadium. Now you're stealing Memphis' attendance excuses.

clt says we have an on campus stadium. That will be expanded soon. Unless we can get CFC to play here, it will not be a pro stadium.

Your AD seems to think otherwise. Per him, UNCC signed a deal with BOA for usage so that stadium size/expansion wouldn't be a factor in their AAC application. i.e. I don't think he's in a big hurry.
