Reacher
So my little fam-unit just watched the first season split into 3 nights. It's pretty good for a simple kick-ass movie. No spoilers, but there is a segment that supposedly happens in Memphis, and they even refer to our University as "Memphis State". Even if you take offense, they at least in subsequent line refer to us as "the University".

RE: Reacher
Looks like Killing Floor (the book that the first season was based on) was written in 1997. Weren't we The University of Memphis by '97?

I was trying to find Memphis landmarks when they were in Memphis but apparently the whole show was shot in Canada

Yeah, this Covid Bull5h!t.... Hope couldn't actually be on set for the latest season of Virgin River, so they had to write in that she was visiting her aunt in South Carolina because of a made-up hurricane, and she got trapped and couldn't come home (Virgin River is set in Northern California). Every once in a while they visited by Zoom.... ON THE SHOW. Before I knew the truth, I though it was that they got a bunch of negative feedback about her character, so they were writing her off the show. Little did I know, she was actually "stuck in the United States", unable to cross the boarder.

Actually a number of Atlanta scenes & some from around Senoia & Grantville GA too. Much better representation of Reacher as a big guy from the book series rather than midget Tom Cruise in the movie.

My dad is big on that point too. But my thing is, it loses a little bit of the intrigue because Tom Cruise was so small that he could be underestimated on a regular basis. Nobody's going to underestimate this guy.

I wish she died of the plague.

That show is meh but easy to watch. Hope is so fugging annoying.

Parts of Arkansas as well and of course the Mississippi river lol
It's a really solid show IMO and the Reacher actor did a great job. I binge watched it over 2 days.

RE: Reacher
I’m anxious to see this show. I have read all of the Lee Child books featuring Jack Reacher. The books are great stuff, and like someone else said, the movie featuring pipsqueak Tom Cruise was definitely miscast. If you read the books, the character is like 6’ 5” and 250 or 260. Cruise has to stand on a box to kiss most leading ladies. Not the guy to strike fear in the heart of bad guys.

I appreciate all the good reviews here. But, I gotta finish Yellowstone before I start this series. I’m in Season 2 on that.

Alan Ritchson is a big dude. Although he’s 6’2 in real life, they portray him as a 6’5 dude. Having a big physique helps as well and the way almost every character responds to his size helps with emphasizing the character’s size. The fight scenes are impressive and his size comes into play in most of the fight scenes.

Plus those in scenes around him seem to be Tom Cruise size. All in all I liked the series just like I have liked Lee Child's book series.

So did I. I never read the book(s) to effect my opinion and I thought it was a solid movie. Not something I recommend to people, but if nothing is on and I am scrolling through, it is good enough for background noise while I do other things.

Felt the same way about the Prime series. Good enough to watch, good enough to have playing in the background, but not something I am going around telling my friends and family they should watch.

RE: Reacher
Tom Cruise is a fine enough actor (though I don't like him :) ) but not well suited for movies where the character needs to have a physical presence. eg. War of the Worlds... he has no business doing anything that might require athleticism. I cringe.

A good # of shows seem to be shot in Canada. Also, a lot of shows seem to Canadian actors. Stealing good jobs from hard working Americans. 03-wink

When I watched Izombie one of the characters (a musician) wore a 'big star' (band from Memphis) t-shirt. Thought was kind of cool.

Tom Cruise best movie ever was Losing It. California high school boys drive to a whore house in Mexico. What could go wrong?
