He stepped up and played like a senior leader when we needed it most, especially with DeAndre out. The guy has guts and is not scared of missing. You have to have someone like him step up when you have a team shooting lights out like Cincy did tonight.

He made the shot they discussed.

The one you are referring two was a deep three. I don’t understand why the announcers said that was a bad shot. His defender got confused on a screen and left Tyler wide open. It was deep but again for Tyler that isn’t a bad shot, despite what the announcers stated. He did make that shot.

The three I am referring two was more of a fast break situation with Tyler and Emoni. Tyler should have pulled it out and let the offense get set but he took the three and missed it, hit the front of the rim.

I agree with what you're saying on the first one. He was way out, but when both defenders turned their backs, what's a shooter to do? Did the announcers actually say the made shot was a bad one?

I actually liked the fast break shot too. Again, he was left open and it came off a turnover. A chance for bonus points. There were no rebounders, true. But with Cincy's physicality and the indifference from the refs, I say shooters take the open shot.

I think some posters said we would need Tyler at some point this year. That's quite a few times.

There were three of his shots they called out. One was a miss, and two were makes. On one he made, they said it was terrible offense but when you make the shots it doesn’t matter.

I thought that perhaps they did not do their research because the deep three is Tyler's shot.

Yes. They called it “really bad offense”.

Like say, it was bizarre because it was our best three point shooter taking a wide open on a night he was clearly feeling it. I would take that bad offense shot all night long.

I was one of the posters who, prior to the start of the season, asked on this board a few times if Harris would be eligible. I noted back then that Memphis would need him because he can do one thing exceptionally well: shoot. So I'll give myself some credit for that one.

In contrast, I also posted more than a few times that Lomax would be the starter at point and surprise some people with effective play. I was dead wrong on that one. I do hope ALo is solid upon his return but my level of optimism is modest.

RE: TYLER F'N HARRIS
I disagree that the 3 that Tyler took towards the end was bad ... Tyler passed the ball to Emoni on the wing and then Tyler immediately cut towards him and got the ball back from EB and both the defenders went with EB as he cut to the basket ... thus, leaving Tyler wide open. When you see defenders back off like that, especially when you're a 3pt assassin, you let it fly. He did, and he made them pay.

Look at the play again - I timestamped it on YouTube ... here you go:

I think it was a great offensive play ... the DEFENSE was terrible. The announcer got caught up in his storytelling and it backfired big time because Harris is a cold-blooded assasin and made him eat his crow, with a side of cole slaw and some biscuits.

Maybe the commentators need to do their homework. Bad shot depends on the player/situation. Just because Tyler takes a deep 3 doesn’t make it a bad shot. He makes a lot of those. Hell, many of Steph Curry’s shots would be considered bad shots for a lot of people.

Tyler Harris was an unstoppable fount of exuberance. The play looked like it was made for him. EB drew off the defenders as planned and this left Tyler standing alone, in the open. And the rest is history... The announcer just got caught flatfooted. Nothing he had planned to say using his BB knowledge was working. Tyler was killin it in Curryesgue fashion. Even the announcer was laughing at the wild awesomeness of the game....

Totally agree. I was yelling at the TV arguing with the commentator after the 2 defenders turned their backs on Tyler.

I didn't like his 2nd 3 in the first half, though; I thought it was not a good shot (he made it though).

He needed 350 points entering the season to get to career 1,000 including what he scored at ISU. If he stays an extra COVID senior year next year, do we think he gets there?
