**** Michigan. This should be a forfeit and an L in their pairwise calculation.

Michigan would not have forfeited if they were going to take a loss in the Pairwise. It’s obviously going to go down as a No Contest. I’m sure UM cut us a check for us to agree to that.

I don't understand how it could be anything other than a forfeit. You can't just cancel a game because you don't feel like playing it.

It’s not a forfeit when both athletic departments agree to it.

It doesn't sound to me, based on the WMU press release, that they were part of this decision at all.

Thats what I'm concerned with. Ferch had to be in the loop and I can't believe he would support this.

We are not the only team in the country in which pair wise is impacted. Every NCHC team wants to see us beat Mich and if they cancel, they what to see the game go down in the books as a forfeit. I'm sure there are some PIG teams who are also watching this. And how pissed would Tech be if Mich backed out on them, using the same excuse? Don't you think they are licking their chops to pick up a win vs a depleted Mich team?

Mich should not be allowed to pick and choose which GLI game they will play and which to drop. They should be required to play both. But it is their right to take a forfeit if they so choose.

Michigan chickened out

Best college team ever assembled is afraid of another loss to us.

The Whinerines are so pathetic that they can't even come up with a good excuse. They are afraid that back to back games will wear their team down. Newsflash: we play back to back games every flippin' week!

Here's an idea: cancel the Tech game and play the REAL marquee game.....#3 vs. #4. Nope, can't do that because the real reason is obvious.

Why did Michigan schedule this in the first place? It isn't like they were surprised that they would have many players gone for the World Juniors - they have players gone every year. I hope this makes Michigan unable to schedule OOC games going forward, but I am not holding my breath. Muck Fichigan.

Without explanation, impression is "we don't want to play a game vs. Top 5 team without 4 top players at WJC".... Tell me I'm wrong

Bingo.

I didn't see anything to the contrary, so I am assuming that Tech is playing both games. I hope we find out the details and it would be a shame if we did not apply pressure to have them play us and cancel Tech. We should have insisted that they either play us or or take a forfeit.

All Western fans are now Tech fans. Maybe the tournament selection committee will have a sense of justice and place Western and Michigan in the same region04-cheers

I think it's BS that they cancelled our game. But, it would be even more BS to cancel their game with Tech. 1) The GLI is technically Tech's tournament 2) Tech has to travel from Houghton to play these games 3) We've already played 2 games vs Michigan this year

I don't think you'll ever see us in the GLI after this nonsense. GLI might be dead anyways.

if they got booted from Little Ceasars, it's dead. The 2021 GLI is just a zombiefied corpse.

Mich getting lit up on twitter, facebook and on other college hockey fan forums. On the Sioux Forum, some posters want the NCAA to investigate, as this is setting a dangerous precedent for a team just to pick and choose which games they don't want to play with out any consequences.

If this is allowed, I hope the NCAA tournament selection committee takes this into account. They have the tools to correct the record (pair wise) to make sure a deserving team does not get left out and that the teams are correctly seeded.

Let's take out our frustration over this by hammering the crap out of MSU, and hope we get another shot at those cowards in the Frozen 4.

Amen.

Strange set of circumstances. We haven't played a game since Dec 11th. We don't play another game until Jan 14th.

We need to unleash a world of pain on Sparty tomorrow.
