NEVER IS A LONG LONG TIME!!!
They are in FBS on a waiver. GS conferences went to the well how many times from 2009-2013? They took everyone except Liberty. If Liberty were still FBS and there was another realignment round they still would not be invited.

Didn’t Liberty complete its two-year FBS Reclassification process in 2019?
What he means is if it weren’t for the waiver, they’d still be fcs. What I hate about them is a) they are not much more than a degree mill, and 2) they think that they can just throw their money around and get anything they want, 3) they have ONE good football and basketball season (in a s*** conference mind you) and they think they are “holier than thou”
It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if they greased the NCAA’s pockets to get that waiver.
F*** Liberty. Want ZERO part of them.
I mean I would say basketball has been really good for 3 years and solid for the last 5. I don’t think you can say they have only had one good season.
Last five seasons (newest to oldest):
23-5 tourney bound
30-4 was tourney bound until cancelled
29-7 won first round game in tourney
22-15 lost conference title game
21-14
Last t seasons KenPom rankings:
99
79
58
184
211
OUtside of 2019, that puts them close to the middle of the pack in the CUSA.

Is this in inconvenient time to revive this thread and look at who, very recently, bashed Liberty, but now wished they had been open to them? Oopsie.

Why do people choose not to realize that it was never about athletics? Liberty is toxic. They are who they are and they will not change. Decision-makers are college presidents and athletics to them are not the top concern the way it is to most of us. And in the world of higher education, it is whose company you keep.
Any conference that ends up adding Liberty has to realize that NOW they will be judged as the friends of Liberty University by any potential future adds.

Liberty was in the damned ASun. They would not have won cusa. That is laughable. And I’d bet they wouldn’t have won fb either.

Ok, I’ll be clear. If Liberty had been added, the leftovers would have them on board and would be in a much stronger position to add a few more and keep going instead of going independent.

I think some potential adds would have seen Liberty on the roster and said "Thanks no thanks"

I'm a Liberty fan and i agree in basketball. I don't think it is a stretch to say Liberty would be above average in CUSA basketball, but saying they would have beaten teams like WKU, LA. Tech, UAB, North Texas, and Marshall.....no. Liberty could have played with them but they would have lost many of those games.

Liberty has been pretty solid though…. Especially in football, you guys should be a nice addition to the conference

Thanks! I am hoping WKU/Liberty develop a good rivalry in football and basketball, especially. Being an Independent in football was good for a few years, but we'd have seasons ending with games against weak teams late in the year that meant nothing...where Liberty was heavy favorites. Very hard for fans to get into. Now with games being conference games, there is a lot more to play for.

I think this year if you had it at WKU, you may have won with the quarterback you have now. And the way Liberty's offensive line has played, which is not good.

RE: Liberty would have won football and basketball this year
As a Liberty fan I just wanted to say that we look forward to competing in the CUSA. Thanks to those who have welcomed us in. To all the haters, know that we’re use to all the hate, bias, bigotry, misinformation, false claims and half truths thrown our way. Most of those who accuse us of these things are really the ones guilty of them. We don’t claim to be perfect and know we have warts like every other school. I found out a long time ago when you don’t go along with the crowd and you dare to stand on your personal convictions, people have a tendency to really dislike that. I think you’ll find out that we’re not here to convert you to Christianity or Conservatism. Most are here to just talk sports and enjoy the competition. I think you’ll notice that the threads that veer off into right field about religion and politics are not started by LU posters, but LU haters. Like I said earlier, just here to enjoy sports.

Glad to have you but what you said contradicts itself. You’re just here to talk sports yet you point out a ton of non-sports related issues. I’m sure you’ll get mad when people start chirping. Anyways, welcome to the board.

Just curious, ewglenn. Have you disavowed your Liberty experience? You seem to be testy toward LU folks these days.

Do you enjoy watching people bang your wife? If so, is that a part of Christianity that is taught somewhere?

Hey some folks are all about swinging, hotwiving and cuckold stuff. Are you saying your school is not open to alternate lifestyles? Or that because you disagree with it it is automatically wrong. Or was this suppose to be a slam dunk on a poster and you are otherwise supportive of alternate lifestyles.
