This is not a knock on Coastal but I have always wondered how good they'd be without McCall or Chadwell. Success is very temporary.

CCU will get better if they continue to recruit in the top half of the conference. They just don’t have the depth currently to sustain success they achieved last year. They caught lightening in a bottle last year, making great plays at critical moments (I believe “luck” is earned through preparation) and had limited injuries throughout the season. Law of averages caught up this year.

Also GA St has some solid play makers and they deserve some credit.

App has been fortunate to keep a high level of success over the years with multiple quarterbacks and coaches.

Not a knock at all. McCall IS the special piece. The defense is not good. With him playing I feel like Coastal scores 50 something to win, thus making us suppress the real issues further, that we know are all there. We've been worrying about the defense all season, but today we didn't have magic McCall to back us up after a horrible showing on that side of the ball. Carpenter did about as well as he could for his skill set, and was asked to do a lot of things he doesn't excel at like McCall and that was apparent. Jamey is a solid coach, but nothing special about this team without McCall. I'm not sure Jamey is a sure bet to the P5 like many have been saying. He has a long way to go in my opinion, in multiple crucial areas.

This is not a knock on your thinking, but losing a 3 pt game to arguably the best/second best team in the conference with said starting QB wounded in the second half, to where he would run every play over throwing…. And a 2 pt loss to a high octane O, while fielding a backup the whole game… isn’t the best example of any decline. We will be fine.

We all know Chadwell will move on some day. We will have to take our chances that we hire better than most do. Happy to take the excellence while it lasts.

But we’ve lost 2 games by 5 points. We aren’t dying over here. Anymore than anyone else would be in the same situation. I.e. App St without Brice, or Louisiana without Lewis (at his better).

Even with McCall they weren’t “special”. Lack of depth on both lines and an average secondary isn’t there yet. Need a few more recruiting seasons, looks like a good one coming in though.

McCall didn’t have time to pass versus App, your oline was gassed and App rotates 9 defensive lineman. Just got out athleted down the stretch.

im paraphrasing, but in so many words, the gist of it was "Listen, this aint no Auburn with 4/5 star athletes. Coastal played the easiest schedule. They aren't ranked any longer after this." and added, "i dont doubt my players, our time was coming (not sure if he's referring to the payback from last year), we faced Coastal ranked playing at their home on their own homecoming, it was really special."

but CSE also complimented that Coastal is an extremely well-coached team and a tough opponent. so I guess it's up to the people to interpret his meanings.

I've conducted many postgame pressers from the bowels of 90k seat P5 stadiums right next to the postgame spread and the equipment guys trying to load the busses.

Visiting media spaces are all but non-existent in most stadiums.

Coastal is just really small, especially in the trenches. The mighty mite thing was cute and inspirational, but it's not sustainable and the size has clearly become a problem more and more. You'll see more beef from Coastal in the trenches going forward, looking at the upcoming class.

Seems like another Ben Moore bad take to me. I watched it and didn't seem like anything too out of the ordinary. Maybe there is some bad blood there, I don't know, but I don't think you can draw that conclusion from that interview.
