Best BBQ and Beer Breweries in the AAC?

Unfortunately, I have not been to all the cities where the AAC resides.

Spent allot of time eating and getting drunk in New Orleans!

If Temple can claim Yuengling that's a definitely a contender.

I can tell you these 2 BBQ establishments are good in Houston

Killeen's BBQ
Truth BBQ

but apparently there are other choices.

Those (St Arnold’s & Karachi) are both quality Beer Breweries, for sure.

I have not tried either of the Houston BBQ Barbequers that you mentioned. Adding to the list.

Out near Denton, Bumbershoots is pretty good. Get there before they run out. You can get there from Highland Park, too. Salt Lick is based in Austin but you can also find one in DFW Airport. Also a fan of Hard Eight.

One more thing… I picked this thread cause it had more views (51) than any of the other three!!

I think we need another three threads on this topic.

Greenville can claim the best BBQ joint in the US B's BBQ or a least according to USA Today. The ranking was based upon a book written by a person who had traveled the US and ate at 351 notable BBQ joints across the country. Eastern NC whole hog BBQ with vinegar based sauce married up is hard to beat. Go AAC!!

Probably the entiree state of NC has great bbq. I tried a place in Asheville that's as good as I've ever had. I think it was called 12 bones.

Hey wow, this is my kind of thread for my first post.

Charlotte isn't really known for its BBQ, you really have to get out of the city. Head down to Peachland to Jon G's or find their food truck for great brisket. Or Sweet Lew's and McKoy's is decent. Don't believe the Mac's hype.

For Beer, Charlotte has new breweries announced every month. The best ones in my opinion are Resident Culture, Divine Barrel. Asheville's Burial and San Antonio's Weathered Souls will be opening here within a year. Burial is the best brewery in the state. They do everything well - IPAs, stouts, farmhouse, etc.

I'll put the Cincinnati beer scene up with anywhere. If you are in town madtree and rhinegeist are the staples but there are a ton of great breweries scattered throughout.

Cincinnati has really improved as bbq city in recent years but it's not there with ecu, Memphis and the Texas schools.

I'll have to go with this as well. Even though I'm a Charlotte fan, I grew up in eastern NC and love eastern NC BBQ.

usf has the best brewery and its not even close. Cigar City in Tampa is the tops when it comes to breweries.

Cigar City is great. Agreed. I got very, very drunk there after USF beat ECU back when ECU had Gardner Minshew at QB.

I especially love when they come out with their White Oak Jai Alai! Much better than the original Jai Alai.

Well, when it comes to beer, my vote is with Asheville. They are basically the Portland of the east when it comes to beer. I like the Highland beers a lot.

I still hang my hat that Oklahoma BBQ is the best bbq. It's a mixture of Texas dry rub and KC sauce. Our sauce isn't as sweet, lot more smokey. Our meat is sloooooow cooked and tender. Nothing makes BBQ better than a good rub. If you have had Head Country BBQ sauce then you will know our sauce. That is Oklahoma to the T.

Burial is the best brewery in the country. There's no contest, really. Ounce for ounce, they make the highest quality beer I've ever had. (and I have had a TON of beer...)

You pay for it, though! They typically want something like $18-$20 for a 4-pack of their seasonal, one-off stuff.

As far as Texas barbecue goes, Taylor, Elgin, Lockhart, Austin, and Llano have the best reputations. The closest AAC team to those locations is UTSA.

I will have to try it. You have given me something new to get excited about. 04-cheers

Lexington has great BBQ. I make a point to stop on my way to Sunset Beach.

I'm still slightly more partial to Eastern NC style.
