Charlottes beer scene is weird. There are way too many breweries. Burial is my favorite hands down in the area at all, and other than Treehouse in Mass, its the only one that really lives up to the hype. If you like German Style, Olde Mecklenburg is a must, I regularly take Germans from Dusseldorf there to try their altbier, to great acclaim. Middle James in Pineville is wildly underrated. I'm just not a fan of any of the ones you listed except for Burial and I've explored most of the breweries in Charlotte. I don't think there are too many. With Charlotte's growth, it can still support more but I think they just need to look at other areas of the city instead of NoDa, Plaza/Midwood and Southend. I suspect we'll see a cluster up in the North End area soon.

I think some of the burbs and outer lying areas are getting decent breweries that is helping. I live in a beer desert that I hope will get some attention when ballantyne builds the new cluster/walking city to compete with Southend.

Absolutely agree. My tastes have changed again where I'm going back to west coast IPAs over the hazies. Nothing against OMB, I appreciate what they do but something in their beer makes me sick so i don't drink it anymore. These days I've been craving more crisp beers like Pilsners and a good farmhouse saison. But it's also always stout season in my house.

If Ballantyne can change its corporate image, you may see a brewery pop up there. I could see maybe Legion, NoDa, or even Devils Logic adding a location there.

we're getting there. Funny, we moved here from Madison Park, now looking to maybe move back to Park Road/MP area due to feeling like not enough to do. But we may stay here. If the light rail builds an expansion and they do this reimagined right, Ballantyne will at least be semi cool. It'll never be south end, but there are some good benefits to living down here.

We'll never get a production or even experimental brewer/barrel house, but we could at least have a taproom. Theres an insane amount of money to be made to the first brewery that decides to target the thirty and forty somethings that want to get a drink in the neighborhood and let the kids run around.

It will be interesting to see Ballantyne change. i had seen talk about extending the light rail from South Blvd over there.

I like the Park rd area. It's been my home for the last 16 years but its even changing with infill projects. And i'm still looking for a good taproom here also. Brawleys is good and the only thing really in this area.

Eaten a lot of BBQ and when you travel to Birmingham you will be surprised at the quality BBQ joints.
My favorite is Golden Rule and a little out of town the Green Top. But most are good but avoid Dreamland. Not sure but I do believe Full Moon would be the closest to the stadium.
If travel by vehicle you will pass some good ones coming into The Ham.

Not BBQ, but try Niki's West for lunch if you have the time. Good food even though its a cafeteria style restaurant.

No idea on the beer.

Birmingham food scene is as good as anywhere, could argue better, especially for the size of the city.

In terms of prices, Madison Park has always been a little ahead of the other neighborhoods in that corridor of 60's brick ranch homes stretching from Park Road Shopping Center, through Montclaire to Starmount below Southpark. I think they are gems because of their location, if you can make their size work for you. I bought a house in Starmount in '97 for $95k, and I see it on Redfin now for $423k. One and a half bathrooms and small closets just doesn't work for married me, but I do wish I had held onto that house.

the best Texas BBQ used to be mostly in the Hill Country. Now it's all over the state and beyond. While society has fallen apart and we are enduring all kinds of nonsense. Food and drink has improved so much in the last 20 years. When i was a kid the BBQ in Houston wasn't good. There was no almost no good sushi in Texas. Now we have some of the best of both.
