We'll be lucky to win 10-15 games this season. Would love to be proven wrong by end of season.

Calm down lol. 9 new guys and 2 studs still in street clothes and just got a senior back who got married last night and drove to the game today. Battled back in both games after digging big holes. We have Memphis on Friday, so it doesn’t get easier. I will always take challenging ourselves and losing than playing bluefield state 3 times a year. Count these guys out all you want, but I don’t think many will be happy to play us at full strength come conference play.

UTSA will get three wins this week by hosting a pillow fight tournament at our HS gym.
We'll beat Texas A&M-Commerce Monday night.
We'll beat Denver Tuesday night.
We'll beat IUPUI (whoever the hell that is) Wednesday night.
We'll lose to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Sunday night.

Back in my school days when we were in the Belt, Denver was in the conference with us. That team was always a bunch of dudes who shot the lights out of the ball. They were not the best team in the Belt but they could beat anybody on a given night.

I actually remember them having those teams too, and I had that game pegged as a loss initially because of it, but changed it to a win because Denver apparently had a record of 2-19 last year, and 7-24 the year before that. Times have changed for them. Hope times will change for us soon.

Denver, back in the SBC days, was always a big question mark when you played at their place. The altitude was a major factor.

IUPUI. Been to the ER there. They take good care of you.
Not quite yet. I looked at the two games they played this year already too, and they barely beat Div. II Regis 68-65, and lost to NAIA Ottawa (Kansas) 72-71. I'm not always right on my predictions, but trust me when I say I do my homework before posting anything on these sites.

For any UTEP fans wondering, you can watch the Pacific game for free on the WCC web site (WCC Network).

Charlotte plays against App St. on Thursday night. App St. plays tough at home. They beat Charlotte at Charlotte last season and at App St. the year before that.

RE: Men’s basketball week 2
Rice should go 2-0 this week, but after a pretty poor effort at Houston, who knows for sure. We host Southern tomorrow (who just beat Tulane at their place and who played Louisville tough in a loss), and then go to UNO over the weekend. But we do have two guards fighting hand/wrist injuries. Chris Mullins didn't play against Houston, and Quincy Olivari did but he's nowhere close to healthy.
BTW, my favorite roster player of the year so far in 2021 is Damien Sears, a 6-7 F for Southern. This is his 6th year of college basketball and fifth team (two years at Jacksonville - one was a redshirt, then a year at Western Oklahoma State, a year at St. John's, and then a year at Nicholls State). That's college basketball for you these days.

RE: Men’s basketball week 2
Tech already has two significant players out for the year that were going to provide quality minutes off the bench in, Stacey Thomas and Will Allen. Both have shoulder injuries and are forwards. They were supposed to provide quality minutes when Lofton was on the bench resting.
If that wasn't bad enough news, Isaiah Crawford, our all-conference post player, and 2nd best player on the team left the game early tonight against Jarvis Christian College with a knee injury. I think it's the same knee he hurt two years ago at UTEP. The knee injury two years ago was season ending and required surgery. He came back to the bench tonight on a crutch. If this injury is season ending then the Bulldogs season is all ready over, after barely starting.
Just horrible luck the Bulldogs have had with injuries the past 5 years. Two players with heart issues and one almost dying during practice; knee injuries, hand injuries, etc. Just can't catch a break. I'm praying Crawford's injury is not season ending, but it doesn't look good. I just don't see how Tech can recover when down three post players, with one being the 2nd best player on the team. If Coach Konkol can win CUSA this year that short-handed, then he deserves every accolade coming his way.
The rest of our non-conference games could be rough. We still have to play North Carolina St., Texas Southern, Santa Clara, LSU and ULL before conference play starts.
