I think you are right, happy for everyone that got to be where they wanted to be. But I am not so discouraged about where we are right now either, maybe we are in the best place we can be right now. We will all know in a few years.

The fact is the MAC didnt want or need any more schools. You werent tied middle. Youre not wanted by anyone else, now you know how UTEP and La Tech feel.

In all sincerity...what is it Western is so averse to about playing in a conference with us? I mean, your games against us always drew better than what you got against your supposed biggest rival last week on a beautiful day.

I'm not here to troll, but it really just seems like WKU would rather claim perceived superiority than have to prove it on a level playing field. Let's compete! Let's put people in the stands! EKU is investing in athletics like never before right now, and we've got great coaching staffs in place. It would be the athletic equivalent of buying a stock low. We're going to make someone look very good when we get our shot.

I really admire what WKU has done with their FBS move, and we just want our shot. We have a university that's ready to make the most of it whenever it comes.

(Incidentally our remaining two games this season are against teams bound for C-USA. We travel to Sam Houston State this week, and we host JSU in the regular season finale).

Looks like you guys are having a decent season so far...Ranked #25 and a record of 6-3. I also saw that yall beat Tarleton State 20-3. Did yall take it easy on them?

I’m not advocating for Tarleton St just to make sure no one accuses me of it. However, they are way ahead of schedule in transition to the FCS. They didn’t get embarrassed by SHSU (#1 FCS), they have beaten multiple FCS teams this year and let’s not forget they beat the s*** out of NMSU in February of this year (43-17). Just pointing out some things. I know some Aggie fans will be upset I brought that up lol.

RE: MAC not expanding
The MAC sure screwed up on this one. Then again it doesn't surprise me with their ridiculous demands. Nobody (and I mean nobody) in their right mind would agree to a 20 year commitment to that conference. A P5? Yeah but not the MAC. They tried to take advantage of WKU and MTSU's situation and got burned. WKU and MTSU came out way better on this deal. You guys will rebuild and CUSA will be fine.

I didn't get to see much of that game. We're still building right now, but we've got a good staff in place, and things are moving in the right direction. The three losses:

-We lost to Louisville, and while it wasn't close because our offense couldn't get it done in the red zone, we held them to fewer points in both halves than #12 Ole Miss did in the second half of Louisville's game against them.

-This past week Stephen F. Austin beat us 31-17 down in Texas. They were just the better team that night. But that would have been our first FCS loss except for...

-Indiana State. Now, I don't want to hijack the thread, but any football fan will appreciate how bizzarre the end of this game was. We took a 21-17 lead with 40-something seconds left. When we kicked off, we tried to squib it, but our kicker hit one of their up guys and he fell on the ball at the 50. But still, all we have to do is keep them out of the endzone for 40 seconds. On the final play of the game, a fourth down from about the 25, they throw it to the goal line. The receiver makes the catch in the air. When he comes down no part of the ball or his body every actually touches the endzone, but the officials called (correctly) in real time that while in the air part of the ball broke the plane. The sad part is that loss will likely keep us out of the playoffs unless we beat Sam Houston State this week which seems pretty unlikely.

The only way I can be remotely happy here is if CUSA gets new leadership.

We've been there in a conference with bad leadership. That was one thing that drew us from the OVC to the ASUN (I absolutely love the ASUN commish!). But take it from me, be grateful your foot is in the FBS door. I wish we'd made the moves you guys did a while back and had the luxury of just worrying about which FBS conference we were going to be in instead of if we can be in one at all. I really love how the new C-USA is shaping up, and I'd love for EKU to be a part of it (Judy and all).

Isn't it funny how things change so quick? In the end, I'm thankful the AAC went out and got the schools they did. It totally changed the scenery and opened the door for that eastern grouping of schools (Marshall/ODU/App State/Coastal/Georgia Southern/Georgia State and JMU) to finally come together into one conference that everyone has been hoping for. I couldn't be happier.

Also happy to see our brothers WKU/MTSU/UTEP/LA Tech and FIU be able to march on.

I think it will along with a new re-branding of the conference.

We are all just trying to survive as G5ers. I'm happy that you all ended up happy with your conference. I think the Sun Belt will be much better than the AAC over the next ten years and will become the premier G5 conference.

Watching the NIU Ball State game and just wondering. Why would WKU want to be a part of that. The new CUSA is still a primary Southern conference . If they get Missouri State and yes even NDSU this could be an exciting conference. CUSA has potential. MAC is and has been for a while very tapped out. There is like 12 people at that MAC game. That is a FCS conference
