Sorry, but it may be the best thing for y'all. In a few years things just might be a lot better than y'all are expecting.

04-cheers

Why don't you sell a conference with Jacksonville State since it's such a great thing.

Don't sell Jacksonville State short. Some people felt pretty much like you when you joined the SBC, before football.

RE: MAC not expanding
I'm reminded of a few years ago. Any suggestion of adding App State was met with the usual chorus of NOOoooo. We don't want to be in a conference with an FCS.

It'll be okay guys. I'm old enough to remember some absolute battles we had with New Mexico State in basketball back in the day. Sam Houston State will be competitive from day 1 in football. Missouri State would be a genuinely exciting add. Liberty has the resources to be competitive nationally. La Tech and WKU are two of the best all around programs in CUSA. MTSU is down but sooner or later they will be back on track.

This will be a good little conference. Keep it small. We'll be alright.

WKU will be fine. They will wisely utilize the exit fee money to invest in facilities and upgrades.

MTSU will utilize the exit fee money to extend Stockstill until 2045. 05-stirthepot

RE: MAC not expanding
I keep thinking about objectives for our schools. Get to the NCAA tourney-easier with less teams. Bowl game for football-I don’t see any G5 contending for a national championship anytime soon. We can achieve these goals in CUSA.

I’ve stated on our boards that I can’t tell the difference from one conference to the next anymore. I am glad to still be rivals with Western but I wouldn’t blame you all to go your own way. Just trying to stay positive because this was quite the week of drama.

WKU already had about $45 million in football upgrades planned for the next few years. Now will just have some help in paying that until the new travel bills start to arrive.

Have to make the best of it. But every new member and current member better hope that Judy is replaced if this conference has any chance of succeeding.

Watching MTSU vs. Marshall. There's like 50 people in the stands. They would have fit in well in the MAC.

I hate that we are stuck with Judy and MTSU. It is really unbelievable that our fate was stuck in the hands of those idiots in Murfreesboro. Can't wait to play every conference tournament in Texas.

With MTSU, WKU, and Liberty being more invested in CUSA, I wouldn't be surprised if the basketball tourney were to be moved more east like Nashville.

Clearly you are new. Judy won’t leave 20 feet from her conference office in Dallas. Welcome to Texas!

Exactly.

There is room for another RED school.

MTSU and WKU aren't rivals. MTSU is a pathetic program that WKU beats like a drum every year. We don't want to be associated with them. I will never step foot on the community college campus again.

Which school has an actual community college attached to it?

Actually I think now is the perfect time to move the tournament to the El Paso/Las Cruces area.

Now is the time to invite EKU. What is WKU going to do about it?

What is it that people don't want a school they don't like? That's what make games like Ohio St-Michigan extra interesting.

WKU will probably dominate the new look CUSA in football and basketball. Make lemonade out of lemons.

But you always will be associated with them.

I think it’s at least a little funny MTSU fans are as upset at MTSU as WKU fans are.

WKY is a beautiful campus in a beautiful city. MTSU is close enough to Nashville for great quality of life. Liberty is the muscle that CUSA needed. The new add on”’s are a great addition. UTEP, LT, & FIU ARE GREAT TEAM MATES. Missouri St. would be a good addition, but does’t have to be the only option. Richmond, NC A&T, or Furman would be good additions TOO. CUSA WILL BE OK YOU AND WILL BE FOLLOWING ON A LIBERTY CHANNEL NEAR YOU FIVE DAYS PER WEEK.

From the WKU paper. The Herald
The MAC conference announced on Wednesday afternoon it had no intent on expanding.

WKU President Timothy Caboni and Director of Athletics Todd Stewart then released a statement to confirm that the Hilltoppers will remain in C-USA.
“During the last month, conference realignment once again touched the collegiate athletics industry, with no conference more affected than Conference USA,” the statement reads. “We’ve seen some highs, some lows and certainly some disappointments. Conference realignment is a fluid process with more waves likely to come.”

“Since joining Conference USA on July 1, 2014, the league has been a meaningful home for WKU Athletics and will continue as such. C-USA has provided a platform for our programs to shine through competitive play and collaboration, and we have celebrated many significant team and individual accomplishments.”

The 2021 conference realignment saga now seems to be settled as the two programs were the last major schools in talks to move elsewhere.

Starting in 2023, Conference USA will be made up of FIU, LA Tech, UTEP, WKU, MTSU and new members Liberty, Jacksonville State, New Mexico State and Sam Houston State.
The 100 Miles of Hate rivalry will continue on in Conference USA.
