AAC/SBC rivalry
Any chance we start seeing more AAC-SBC matchups being scheduled. Seems perfect that ESPN might want to match our conferences against one another.

Troy has a H&H with Memphis in 2024 and 2025 and 2 H&H series with UAB later in the decade.

Coastal just agreed to a H&H with Temple

Arkansas State and Memphis have a bunch of games over the next decade.

UTSA and Texas State

South Alabama and UAB have H&H eventually in the 2020s

I'm sure there are many more but these are the ones I familiar with off the top of my head.

RE: AAC/SBC rivalry
App has several games against Charlotte upcoming and three against ECU. I'm sure our AD will try to get more of those.

I don't think anyone would turn down the chance to play Navy, but they're hard to get (8 conf games, Army, Air Force, ND, leaving only one nonconference game/year that changes.)

I see no point in trying to schedule AAC teams just to play them for being AAC. I anticipate the focus will be getting money games, regional home FCS games, H&H's with regional P5's, and quality G5 opponents H&H. App just signed one recently with Toledo, for example.

The only difference now, for App, is there doesn't necessarily have to be so much pressure to get nearby nonconference G5 games because there will be so many in conference. There's more freedom to try scheduling MW schools like Boise or San Diego State, if interest were to be reciprocated.

During the Presser yesterday, our AD mentioned that he and the UAB AD were already discussing games.

USM has played one of four in a H&H with Tulane. We will probably outdraw them in their own stadium. Again.

We’ve got 2 more games with ECU left in ‘23 and ‘25. And one with Navy in ‘23.

ECU and USM played for about 30 consecutive years until they split from CUSA, now it’s like they don’t know us. They should have scheduled us, we’ve been down and we own the series. They could have narrowed the considerable gap.

If we wouldn't lose so much in home revenues, having the Louisiana/USM games in the Superdome would be outstanding,

We had a great crowd and atmosphere at the NOLA bowl in 2016. It might be a good one off deal if we can get up off the mat.

RE: AAC/SBC rivalry
Plenty of opportunity for this conference to make its mark then. I hope Butch gets us turned around. Playing them to withing 5 points this year tells me we should be able to beat them on a regular basis once we get our poop together.

RE: AAC/SBC rivalry
This is perfect. You never know what teams will look like in any given year but it is important we either A) win more than we lose through 2031 against the AAC or 2) at least keep the record close to .500

If we can show we are on par or even better than AAC I think that goes a long way in the future of negotiation for TV contracts.

RE: AAC/SBC rivalry
We have a long-term H&H with ECU. No spots on the OOC until 2025 but wouldn’t be shocked if we did something with Charlotte. Would love to have Navy for obvious reasons but probably won’t happen until/unless they go independent again. Other than them and perhaps you-know-who-ple, and Memphis/Wichita for basketball, the rest of the AAC has limited appeal.

I’m sure we’ll add a Florida series now that we have no conference games down there. I just hope it’s South Florida instead of FAU/FIU.

USM/UL playing in the Superdome to start conference play in 2023 would be a good way to showcase SBC.
