Anthony Markanich with the pretty pass to Nick Markanich who heads it in past goal.

What a great goal……just terrific.

Georgia Southern with the equalizer. Chelsea Dagger on the goal, really?

Georgia Southern ties it……not great defending there.

This is the lesser of the two Georgia teams. We need a good second half and a W.

RE: Huskies Went Down to Georgia
Two times the Georgia Southern players fell to the ground like they’ve been shot, looking for yellow cards. Keep that bush-league stuff in the Sun Belt, you’re in the MAC now.

On the surrendered goal, it almost looked like it may have been deflected by a Huskie player but I’m not sure. At the very least, several Huskies may have obstructed the goalkeeper’s view.

NIU’s possessing the ball but not putting many shots up. Gotta pick up the tempo and urgency in the 2nd Half.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wait a minute, didn't you get kicked out of Florida for being too young?

Game ends at a 1-1 tie. Huskies dominated the game with possession and opportunities but could not bury one to win.

Hopefully this tie does not impact the ratings. Did not see the intensity that has been prevalent this whole season.

RE: Huskies Went Down to Georgia
Game atmosphere was nice. Huskies really seemed to control the ball but scoring was obviously not enough (From someone know nothing about soccer).

Getting down to the meat of things. Georgia Southern had concessions with short lines and plenty of food. They were giving away the extra popcorn and hot dogs at the end of the game. COGS I think NIU's hotdogs are better if you can get one. COGS

Certainly not going to help. Georgia Southern was 4-9-0 and had lost five in a row.

NIU used to have great concerts and attracted big names before I got there. During the time I was there the biggest name that performed there was 10,000 Maniacs. Ugh!

But then again, Mr. Meyers and Johnny Bounce and the Bad Checks were better local bands than you would see at most colleges outside of Athens Ga.

A trip down memory lane....

Exactly, unfortunately. Nick Markanich's goal was well played - The goalie came off his line a bit early and he placed it well! If the goalie didn't do that, who knows.....

Saturdays match is a must win for NIU. The team they are facing is a tougher team that the last. If they want to maintain their ranking, or move up. They must win on Saturday. Doesn't sound like their coach was too happy about how they played the first half. They better show up to play on Saturday.

Before the trip, you of course would want to get two wins but playing two matches in three days on top of the longest conference road trip in a while and having your routine disrupted with a weeknight match thrown in there, would have left you content with a win and a draw.

On paper, Georgia Southern was the more likely win of the two but at least you still got the draw. Maybe the travel and the disruption I mentioned earlier having to play a weeknight with not the usual time in between matches messed with the team’s rhythm, who knows. What’s done is done. Now that leaves you with having to get the win in Atlanta. The guys can do it.

I liked hearing Coach Swan’s post-game comments, nothing wrong with having high expectations. Hopefully, the team can reset and has some extra juice on Saturday to make up for its somewhat flat performance to start against Georgia Southern.

GO HUSKIES!

Great list, but I question some of those dates. I know for sure REM and the Replacements did not play in DeKalb in '85 & '86. Believe me, I wish they did. The group that were scheduling concerts, were scheduling underground alternative & new wave/punk band that no one ever heard of.

I drove to Athens to check out GA campus a couple years ago. Awesome stadium, albeit I have no idea where anyone parked. It just pops up out of nowhere on campus Biggest, best bookstore I have ever seen. Lots of talent around in early October on a warm day.

Didn't spend much time in college town, but it looked and felt like The Place.

I would go back for sure.

I saw REM in 1986 at Chick Evans. Here is the setlist:
