In other shocking news, the sun rose in the East this morning.

I’ll be cheering on from afar, but you know Mike Leach is salivating after watching Arky State throw on us left and right.

Would be cool if our Defense was pulling a rope-a-dope last Sat. night.

Of course it would be…but how many defenses pull punches to hide their hand? Offenses, yes, defenses, not so much.

On the bright side, the coaches have a week to straighten them out and it’s always better to get exposed in a win.

Unfortunately true. I try to give the defense the benefit of the doubt of fatigue being an issue. But Blackman picked us apart early and often in the second half so fatigue couldn't have been a problem at that point.

I know Rubin was gassed toward the end of the last quarter, did Julian Barnett play? (If so I missed it).

RE: Ryan Silverfield: Memphis defense must improve against Mississippi State
I’m surprisingly not that worried about the defense. They played 98 plays and were understandably gassed. Yet they still kept up stride for stride with their receivers for the most part. We got burned on some jump balls that should be easily correctable based on technique. We also played a lot of conservative prevent defense. This is far less worrisome to me than some of our maligned dust in the wind defenses of the past where our DBs clearly lacked speed and were physically outclassed

Obvious zones are easy to beat when your Defensive backfield is slow and you don't get any pressure...Or the pressure you get just flushes the QB out of the pocket giving him two options.

The slower your defense essentially the larger the field.

Good question. I didn't pay close enough attention to know that either.

10-3
Bowl win
Beat UCF
Beat Navy on the road

Another heartbreaking win on Saturday. It's a pity your prayers weren't answered, on the Hail Mary.

Bowl win LOL-----I would rather have won -one of the 3---especially the team we were #2 behind on everyone's list

Gives up 50 points, 681 yards, 37 first downs to a middling sunbelt team.

Thinks defense needs to improve.

Bwahahaha.

Maybe Memphis offense should try some ball control so the defense guys can catch a breath. Those bigger guys were gassed beyond belief, especially in the second half. All the while, the coaching staff was imploring the offense to go faster, strike quick. Quick play is exciting to watch, but I think you gotta have a deep defense to keep the other guys out of the end zone. Doesn’t look like the defense is very good. Again.

.......AGAIN----I can hear the coach tell Austin/Thomas -"look when you break free for 50 yards--whatever you do-DON'T SCORE-LAY DOWN at the 20 yard line----we then will try to punch it in --in 10 plays and hope we don't fumble --or miss a FG--DO NOT SCORE"

If they don't want to be tired----TRY STOPPING SOMEBODY and get off the field

I wish that we would score on the first play of every possession --- 1 play 1 TD---we would never lose

plus we were burned by our own refs for some bogus P.I, calls...no calls on Ark St O Line holding on our defensive players.
Sometimes teams shut down when a game is close...and the refs turn a blind eye like that. What is the point of giving it your all when the refs will screw you no matter what?
Happened a few times during the Fuente tenure.

You play fast to wear the other defense out...

If we play slow on offense against an SEC team that allows them to utilize their depth...You make them play 11 as much as possible.

When Alabama scores fast the starters are usually watching the game by the time the 4th quarter starts...If you don't give up first downs...Guess what...You play less plays.

You get tired when you continually allow the other team to covert.
