First Team with a FCS History to a Power 5?
Is UCF the first team that has been FCS in the past to be invited into a P5?

UCF actually started out in D3, and I think we’re the only FBS team to have accomplished the feat of going D3 to D1, and now P5.

UConn went from FCS or Div 1-AA as it was called then to AQ in the Big East.

wasn't Cincinnati MVC before? or was that before the Division 1-A and 1-AA split?

Rutgers was playing the equivalent of D-1AA back in the day
Several examples of teams out west who upgraded too

Don't kid yourselves. Just like they did in 2013, UCF is going into a depleted conference that will be dropped from the power ranks when UT and OU depart. They may end up in a better financial situation than they were in the AAC, but tweener conference is about as good as they're going to get.

Yes….
Cincinnati and Louisville were both in the Missouri Valley along with Memphis, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Iowa and Iowa State

I don’t believe that.
Its obvious Phillips, Warren and Kliavkoff still consider The Big 12 a P5 conference.
If the majority of commissioners from the other P5 conferences say it’s a power conference, it’s a power conference.

To clarify, many of those were not in at the same time.

In that case, weird how the "Alliance" didn't include the non-OU/UT Big 12 schools.

USF went from DI-AA all the way to a BCS league, that’s in essence the same as being a P5.

But IIRC I don't think they were ever actually classified as FCS. They upgraded their scheduling after the split went into effect.

Its not weird when you consider one of the primary reasons for the Alliance was to oppose certain changes to the proposed playoff system.
The Alliance commissioners were asked why The Big 12 wasn’t included and they answered because Bowlsby helped put the playoff proposal together and they knew where The Big 12 stood.

That’s correct…membership was over about a 40 year period.

Memphis will get there. Its probably the academics that has held them back because the athletics are certainly impressive.

Bingo. Commissioners are official sources. If they say another league is a power conference, that’s the end of discussion.
