It would be hard to turn JMU down after walking around campus, getting to tour inside the AUBC, then go to Bridgeforth, and have Byington tell you we’re gonna play fast-paced, energetic basketball. It feels like we’re in a great spot for the future, cautiously of course.

Great news. Really excited for basketball.

This means there is no room at the inn for paul lewis for the time being. Id still like to see him play in purple and gold. I think his stock dropped quite a bit after the maryland goat rope, but I still think he could be great here.

Mettlen reporting that 6’7” wing Darren Buchanan is visiting JMU this weekend. Holds offers from many Big East and A-10 schools, Loyola Chicago, as well as a Rutgers offer, so an impressive recruit.

Interesting in that there are no open spots. I know it’s been said that Byington will now wait in the spring to see how the roster shakes out via transfers, but curious that he’s still lining up visits.

Yeah makes you wonder if he's just being prepared for the inevitable transfer or two or four, or if he's thinking some recruits are worth giving current guys the boot. I guess nowadays you almost have to do a little of both, be prepared for some transfers and then if they don't happen rescind a scholarship. Type of thing that seems scummy to do but seems like you're screwing yourself over if you don't.

Interesting….we didn’t make Tyler Nickel’s top 5 but Byington went to his high school (East Rock HS) practice/workout today….

There might be other players they want to see, and JMU MBB tries to at least have a walk on from a local school to have that community tie.

Would love to be a fly on the wall in terms of recruiting discussions for hoops around the topic of JMUs future conference. I’m sure we lead with Facilities, campus, academics, style and coaching staff but just curious what is being said to recruited around the future home for JMU hoops and if it’s reached that level of certainty yet. We may be getting some interest and commitments from heavily recruited bigs just based on being in the CAA but some of it could go further than that.
