Also...His brother left Wake Forest after the season. 4-Star WR who was a top ranked WR in the state of North Carolina.
Redshirt 2019, played last year.
Interested to see where he ends up

I’m glad Mike Greene is moving back to tackle. Starting to look forward to the season. About five weeks to go.

Absoloutely.....Greene was good as a DE......but he is a monster at DT along the interior and will make the other DTs that much better as well.

Greg Madia is the best. Love my DNR on line subscription. Offensive line depth seems to be the area of most concern. Looking forward to the Maine game, 5 weeks from today.

Well, in terms of covid, it's pretty clear that we're not "back to normal." It's nice being "back to almost normal", but that's different from "almost back to normal." With the number of people choosing not to vaccinate, and the virulence of the Delta strain, I think it'll be a while. It's possible that they could allow gatherings outdoors, with masks and vaccine requirements. But that means vaccine cards, and a lot of "I have the right to not get a vaccine" people would be very unhappy about it.
So, I don't know. I'm eager to see what comes of Sturgis this weekend.

I have heard conflicting reports on the efficacy of the vaccine. I have heard that a significant number of vaccinated people have contracted Covid, post-vaccine. Some reports claim that 70 to 80% of those now suffering with Covid have been vaccinated. And, I have also read that few people who have been vaccinated have contracted the disease.
The following report came first-hand from a hospital admin-type that I know at our local hospital. It was a couple of months ago that she reported that there were ten patients with Covid in intensive care, Eight of them had been vaccinated!
Anyone have any reliable nationwide numbers on this? I say "reliable" because I suspect that many of the reports are agenda-driven.

It seems like MLB is still playing to full houses. I know the covid cases amongst players seem to be on the rise. However, I have not heard anything about limiting fans to baseball games, yet.

Okay, I'll bite. Knowing full well you'll find a way to say that AP, Reuters, and Johns Hopkins aren't reliable.
AP: Nearly all COVID deaths in US are now among unvaccinated
Quote:An Associated Press analysis of available government data from May shows that “breakthrough” infections in fully vaccinated people accounted for fewer than 1,200 of more than 107,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations. That’s about 1.1%.
And only about 150 of the more than 18,000 COVID-19 deaths in May were in fully vaccinated people. That translates to about 0.8%, or five deaths per day on average.
Johns Hopkins: Delta Variant: New Data on COVID-19 Transmission by Vaccinated Individuals
Quote:1. Vaccines remain highly effective at preventing severe disease.
2. Breakthrough infections among vaccinated individuals remain uncommon.
3. The majority of new COVID-19 infections in the US are among unvaccinated people.
Reuters: How the Delta variant upends assumptions about the coronavirus
Quote:In the United States, which has experienced more COVID-19 cases and deaths than any other country, the Delta variant represents about 83% of new infections. So far, unvaccinated people represent nearly 97% of severe cases.
Dr. Monica Gandhi, an infectious diseases doctor at the University of California, San Francisco, said many vaccinated people are "so disappointed" that they are not 100% protected from mild infections. But the fact that nearly all Americans hospitalized with COVID-19 right now are unvaccinated "is pretty astounding effectiveness," she said.

Oh wow, here we go again with all this stuff.
Seriously all, anyone that wants one the 3 vaccines has had every opportunity to get it by now. So at this point I see it as a personal responsibility issue -- if folks chose not to get vaccinated they have accepted any risks.
It seems pretty simple to me:
- If you have been vaccinated there is no need to wear a mask unless you want to and think you mask looks cool
- If you have not been vaccinated, you should probably wear a mask right now, but if you don't I don't really care b/c I have been vaccinated.
I just want to sit in my normal season seats for football and bball instead of finding out week to week what corner JMU has deemed the best option and stuck me there.
Can the moderators please just create a COVID thread and dump all this crap in there and not muddy up threads where I thought we were actually discussing football and leadup to the season.

To be perfectly frank, this is kind of where I'm at as well. Exhausted by the fact that everyone's had their chance by now. You can't be bothered? Okey dokey, you do you and all the repercussions that go with it.
That said, I'm perfectly happy if it gets taken a step further. Vaccination is not a protected class, so if you want to DO YER FREEDOMS, I certainly hope businesses and employers exercise their right to tell you to show proof of vaccination, otherwise enjoy DOIN' YER FREEDOMS outside their establishments.

I will be devastated if the season is affected this year. Make it a requirement to be vaccinated w/ proof this year if that's what it takes.

RE: 2021 summer preseason thread
Yeah one year of the way sports, concerts, etc. were impacted was bad enough. Getting back to almost normal and then having it yanked back away would be even tougher than the first time around, I sure hope it doesn't get to that. Absolutely can't wait to be back in a packed Bridgeforth and be in a hopefully packed AUBC for the first time.
