It would be interesting to have a mini-discussion on the implications if Boise St. does join the AAC:
1) How will it affect the rest of the AAC FB and BB programs?
2) What impact will it have on the AAC's relations with ESPN, its broadcasting schedule, etc.?
3) What impact will it have when the contract with ESPN is renegotiated about 10 years from now?
4) Will adding Boise move the AAC toward autonomy and power status, or will it just be a dead end, leading nowhere?
5) Will the AAC stop at 12 with Boise St. or will the addition of Boise be stage 1 in a two-stage plan to expand to 14 FB/BB schools?
6) How will the departure of Boise affect the MWC? Will they reload, and if so, which school(s) will they add?
.
If there is any accuracy to the previous discussions between BSU & AAC, BSU was ready to come for all sports but not just FB. If that premise still exists, I would have to think it will require a western div to get an expansion. So I would think, we are probably talking an expansion to 14 schools with all 3 being western adds.

TEP would be the leading candidate to replace Boise but they might stay right where they are. No sense moving to a conference that has lost it's main attraction and that might lose 2 more schools to the AAC in an attempt to build a western wing a few years later. The MWC would be relegated to CUSA and Sun Belt status at that point anyway. NMST would be a great add basketball wise and would keep MWC travel to a minimum.

Boise, CSU, and Air Force if BYU can't be influenced to join for all sports for the western wing. If BYU could be influenced to join, go for BYU, Boise, and Air Force all sports.

It would be interesting to have a mini-discussion on the implications if Boise St. does join the AAC:
1) How will it affect the rest of the AAC FB and BB programs?
Now that is the million dollar question isn't it.... So much depends on how it is done.
the best I can do is offer my opinion.
I think Boise FB would strengthen the perception of AAC FB because I believe they will consistently compete at the top of the conference.... NOT saying they would win it every year... they would not. there are some very good/strong teams in the AAC. I see it as a step up in competition for Boise and I think they would a very good product that would be competitive which makes everyone in the conference look just a bit better.
Boise Basketball would probably be in the middle of the pack. It is a team that has been slowly building better and better under the former Gonzaga asst. coach Rice. I would think the step to cross country competition would help in recruiting and help in the building process.
2) What impact will it have on the AAC's relations with ESPN, its broadcasting schedule, etc.?
Again, that really depends on how it all goes down, if it does. I think it will, but there are so many possible scenarios. If a western division is created, which I think is a strong possibility, Then the western division and anyone traveling to the western division are going to probably be playing later games to fill that time slot for ESPN. It is that value to ESPN that ultimately would fund this whole scenario.
3) What impact will it have when the contract with ESPN is renegotiated about 10 years from now?
If it happens that whole contract is going to be renegotiated now. I would guess it would not change anything for current members, as far as money goes but ESPN money is the whole reason any of it could happen in the first place.
10 years down the road? That is a life time in college sports. That would depend on how well The "revised" conference does in perception, viewership, relevancy to a possible playoff, so many variables here.
4) Will adding Boise move the AAC toward autonomy and power status, or will it just be a dead end, leading nowhere?
My opinion is that the more competitive a conference is the better their perception in the national eye. I think adding Boise would help move the needle in the right direction. Adding Boise alone does not get you there. but I think it is a step in the right direction.
5) Will the AAC stop at 12 with Boise St. or will the addition of Boise be stage 1 in a two-stage plan to expand to 14 FB/BB schools?
I have a feeling that a 14 team conference with a western conference is probably going to be more palatable to everyone because of travel especially with the olys. I do not think you get Boise unless it is all sports and to do all sports I think you end up with a western division.... I think the big push would be BYU. They are going to be a hard sale. I really hope they can see the light. If I had my choice I would love BSU to join with BYU... I think that would be the biggest get for the conference and everyone would win.
I think BSU is more than ready for all sports. Beyond BYU all the options are not as clear cut. Pros and cons to each.
6) How will the departure of Boise affect the MWC? Will they reload, and if so, which school(s) will they add?
The MWC would survive but I think more on the level of MAC - CUSA... Maybe. depends on who they end up choosing as replacements.

Getting this thread back on track.
5 Fun Facts About Idaho
1. Like a lot of other states, Idaho’s name originates from a Native American word. The word sounds very similar to the state’s name and is translated to “I guess we'll stop here”.
2. Idaho’s nickname, the Gravel State was given to the state due to the sheer abundance of gravel at the state’s disposal – 72 different types to be precise.
3. Located in Cottonwood, Idaho, you can stay at the Dog Bark Park Inn, which is a bed and breakfast shaped like a giant cat.
4. The capital city of Idaho is Boise, boasting a population of over 40,000, Boise boasts the highest population out of all the cities within the state by a long shot, the second-highest being Meridian, with a population of over 14,000.
5. Despite being landlocked geographically speaking, you can still reach Idaho by sailing from the Pacific Ocean! You can do this by traveling through various sewage systems, namely the Snake River and Columbia River.

Nice neighborhood. I don't mind that there are people against expansion... Probably good to have some skepticism. Never know how it would turn out. Could be a complete fiasco. I would just bet against that line of thinking... I think it would be a win-win-win for everyone except ECU.?

Yeah I heard they're hitting Texas hard. They're locusts. They've already destroyed Oregon and Washington. People here have stickers on their cars saying, "Thanks for supporting our economy. Now go home".

Nice neighborhood. I don't mind that there are people against expansion... Probably good to have some skepticism. Never know how it would turn out. Could be a complete fiasco. I would just bet against that line of thinking... I think it would be a win-win-win for everyone except ECU.?
Are you guys getting flooded with the dreaded Californians there like they are here in Vegas? They drive like Fkng maniacs.
Double whammy
Austin and Montana
Yeah I heard they're hitting Texas hard. They're locusts. They've already destroyed Oregon and Washington. People here have stickers on their cars saying, "Thanks for supporting our economy. Now go home".
Don’t California our Texas here

Yea, a whole bunch of "don't californicate Idaho" stickers. The thing is that it is the conservatives flooding the state because we tend to be conservative here. Problem is that we were always a moderate conservative state until this huge flood of Q people.
