It has more to do with our needs and not the Lawsons. We need a PG and possibly a center if Moussa is gone.

We could be setting ourselves up for a disaster. How is Penny going to keep all these wings happy. Just not enough minutes for all of them. We have too many wings for two teams.

And what I'm saying is that there are a lot of "coulds" and "maybes" and "possiblies" in these complaints, when the kids literally just signed. Haven't even had a single practice. Why can't we at least wait to see them before we whine about them? I want people to have a bit more faith in Penny.

Tyreke Evans, also 6'6, started at SG to begin his season at Memphis, but was shifted to PG a few games into the season. Both he and the team struggled until that move and flourished afterward.

Was the year that Cal started the season with Wesley Witherspoon at PG, who was about 6'7" or 6'8"?

I guess if you consider 12 years new. I've fought this battle a few times and I'll keep fighting it. TBH, it bugs me anytime the criticisms of our kids get harsh. They are, after all, kids.

It's not a criticism to say there aren't enough minutes for all the wings this team now has or that no one on the roster addresses the PG or big needs. It's simply stating reality.

IIRC, that Spoon experiment at PG didn’t last very long.

It's being a little negative, and it is at least a criticism of Penny, though there is also an implication that the kids would have a problem with sharing minutes, despite the fact that Penny is making that clear while recruiting (per Keelon Lawson today). Let's let it play out a bit before we decide things are going wrong. Feel free to tell me why I'm wrong but I'm done arguing about this. I'm excited for our team and I think we're going to be great. There is no such thing as a perfect NCAA team. Gonzaga just proved that after being slurped all season.

Tyreke ended up running the point at 6-6. Got to a sweet 16

You’re looking at it from the 1980s or 90s. The position is different now. Basketball is different. I’m not saying it’s improved the overall game but it’s the way things are now.

ALL of the final four teams this year had outstanding PGs who could handle the ball, shoot, beat the defender off the dribble, create for their teammates & defend. Nothing different about that. That's what it took for high level success in the 90s & that's what it takes now.

It's only part of reality, especially if you cherry-pick reality and interpret it to fit your frame of mind. (lol not that there's anything wrong with that. Most everyone's got a frame of mind. shrug)

They say Johnathan can play the 2. And Chandler can play the 5 in a small ball lineup.
Chandler can't transfer again without sitting. So he's pretty much here and accepting whatever role Penny gives him. Likely backup to Deandre and Malcolm. That's not a bad gig, with foul trouble and health issues.
Johnathan is a freshman. He will compete and learn. His scholly is for the future, because we likely have a lot of "wings" leaving after this year.

A recap for the Miserables:
Earl > DJ
Davian = Boogie ?
Chandler > Lance
Johnathan = Nesbitt
Minott > Rand
Camden = Baugh ?
Sam +

Of course, if Cisse leaves, then that is a "minus" compared to Sam. Too, if he leaves, Penny likely goes after another transfer.
If he comes back, then this team is really loaded.
I think the "5" is fine, either way. I would like to see an elite PG, but so would 300 other teams.

Minutes will work out. Penny plays a lot of guys in various positions. If guys don't like how they are used, they will leave. In today's world, they are always going to leave. So why not load up and take your best shot.

One thing is for sure...Penny is going to have a loaded roster again:

Nolley
DeAndre
Moussa
Quinones
Lomax

Timberlake
C. Lawson
M. Dandridge
Warren
J. Lawson

Camden
Minott
Sam
Jayden

CA quoted Penny this week saying he learned over the last few games of the season that the team was more productive playing a shorter bench. Keep that in mind with your analysis along with the fact that there are a total of 200 mins available each game regardless of how they are spread.

CA quoted Penny this week saying he learned over the last few games of the season that the team was more productive playing a shorter bench. Keep that in mind with your analysis along with the fact that there are a total of 200 mins available each game regardless of how they are spread.

There are 13 scholarship players on every team...

If you recruit well you are going to have 4* not getting minutes...I say that is a good problem to have.

I do question who is leaving next year outside of Deandre...Don't we already have 2 committed.

Moussa and Nolley would be my guess...I say the Lawsons stick due to one of them not being able to transfer again without sitting.
