Absolutely, get your AD to call ours! (Just don't chicken out later)

My fear is UNH will wait until the last day to make the call like this week, which creates problems scheduling because of the CAA 72 hour rule.

Don’t think either Maine or JMU is going to fly anywhere for a football game. JMU/Maine is not going to happen.

Have fun finding an opponent in COVIDland then.

Jmu needs to play another game if it can.

It’s entirely possible a very good undefeated JMU team could get screwed out of the playoffs by a combination of CAA scheduling and covid this season. Been saying this since the schedule was announced.

I *think* we would get an at large at 4-0, but don’t feel like it’s a lock yet. Completely agree we need to play someone, ANYONE anywhere if we can.

CAA games are preferable for AQ reasons, but at this point just get a game on the books somehow. If Villanova doesn’t bite, look for a MEAC or NEC type buy game.

So glad we waited for a spring championship vs playing a bunch of FBS teams like BYU, Coastal and UNC and you know maybe ending up in the top 25...

I think we are in.

I think we need an opportunity to improve. While the W&M game seemed to be much better, I don’t think we are ready for the deep run into the playoffs

VU just boatraced Maine, so they may be feeling it. Tuned out at 44-3 or something.

Let em get a shower then call them Jeffrey!

If we can not get any CAA teams to schedule does VMI have an opening?

Just looked it up, all the SOCON teams have games the next two weeks.

I don’t think either school would want that game right now. If we get a home game through seeding or winning a bid, it’s possible, perhaps likely that is our first PO game.

One of our CAA squads needs to step up.

No other CAA team is going to go out of their way to do us a favor, and the league won’t fix this for us.

Hopefully Villanova sees a benefit in playing us next week and agrees to a game. I think Elon is done, and W&M or RU games on 4/17 seem possible but uncertain. Right now, that’s basically it.

Real question here... why does it seem like the FCS is cancelling way more games than FBS did in the fall? Are our Covid protocols super strict compared to say the SEC or ACC? FCS is a complete joke.

My impression of it is the protocols determine which players are eligible to play and the teams get some discretion on whether or not they want to play given the players that will be out. I think contact tracing also limits availability of players who had contact even if they didn’t test positive.

In the case of FCS, a lot of teams with losing records are choosing to opt out of games and spring entirely. It makes sense, FCS is typically a money losing sport, whereas FBS can generate profits.

In the top 25 of what?

Technically, the AP allows FCS team to get votes in the AP top 25 poll, but yea I don't think there was any chance that would have happened anyway in the fall.
