Looking to next year: Hoops
Coach on today's show when talking about Shy" I wanted to see what he and Mike look like together going into next year". Did he just tell us Mike is coming back without telling us Mike is coming back?

I heard the same thing and thought the same thing. Makes sense. Mike's last two years have been decimated by the Covid mess. He and Shy would be an awesome combo at the 1-2 spot.

I was curious about roster management as all players do not count this year of eligibility so technically everyone could come back. That would be difficult roster management. It would probably be best for most of seniors to let young guys get more time.

After a season with not enough bodies, color me unconcerned about having the opposite problem next season. That will all sort itself out in due time.

If Okauru and even Gadsden stayed, it would actually balance out our classes.
If they stayed:
Sr. - 4 Okauru, Gadsden, Sims, Bowen
Jr. - 4 Phillips, Boggs, Pridgen, Dodd
So- 2 Harvey, White
Fr - 3 McGriff, McCracken, Thomas
We'd bascially be done recruiting for next season and would hav depth at every position. My only questions would be Gadsden and Dodd moving on.

Shy actually be a Soph next year according to coach. And i guess everyone technically gets this year back. So Boggs(and others) would stay a Soph too.... Will be interested to see how that gets handled. Will they be Sophomores? Or will they be Juniors with 3 years left....
Also, you just assuming Carr is gone?

Was Carr ever really here? I'd say that Thomas was probably recruited to fill Carr's spot.

You counted him every time we talked about Coaches recruits :)
Thomas is an upgrade anyways. If he's bringing one or 2 back form this team i'd assume it's Carr's scolly

Need at least another true big, at least 1 to augment Boggs, Dodd, McGriff and/or Bowens if he stays for extra year.
Yes, you get a year back if you want it so eligibility class does not change. Not everyone will take advantage of the rule.

No way Siddle keeps four 5's on the roster. If we have Bowen, Dodd and McGriff, that will be it. I think Dodd is gone myself. Especially if Bowen returns for the tournament and he sits.

The question is are they 5’s? Need 1 more guy with dimensions, ability, and a willingness to mix it up.

RE: Looking to next year: Hoops
We talk about Size all the time Just for reference on the Kevin Keatts teams We had the following # of players 6'7 or over:
2014-15:7
2015-16 :6
2016-17:4
But Keep in mind that last season we had the best rebounder in school history on that squad. And We are all counting Dodd, he's 6'6
So looking at who's on board now, if Bowen doesn't come back, we would have 2 players 6'7 and above in McGriff and Boggs, and if Dodd comes back we will even count him as a C given what he is at 6'6. So that would give us 3 without Bowen, leading to an extremely undersized roster, and honestly doing a disservice to Boggs who'd be stuck at the 5 a ton and really needs to be at the 4.
We lose Bowen and Dodd we need to add at least 2 bigs.

Didn't coach say he was looking for at least one more big? Maybe through transfer?

Like Bricks mentioned in the recruiting thread, if Thomas could convince his teammate to come, that would be a huge get!

RE: Looking to next year: Hoops
Siddle wants a stretch four, so if he has a player who can't shoot and score outside the paint, they will only play the five of in his system. Boggs is forced to play the five because Dodd hasn't been getting it done at the five.
Bowen and Dodd are only post players, and McGriff is also. That's three guys who can only play the five. If he brings in another post player, I can't see where Dodd fits in if Bowen stays, since Bowen is already in front of him on the rotation chart. Like I said, I think this tournament will show whether Siddle intends to keep Dodd for next year.

Think Towson, NE and Hofstra and then consider what is needed.

While i do agree with you we need more size depth, we will never structure our roster like any of the teams you mention, coach's goal is to play a style much different than them.

Agree. He will build the team for our style of play, not worried much about their style.
