RE: Game Day Thread: Cincy vs. the shuckers
Harvey and Dejulius need to take the reigns of this team. I know Harvey is young and he seems like a quiet guy, so maybe Dejulius is the one who has to take charge. Lets stop pretending Keith is our best player. He doesn't have what it takes to put a team on his back game in and game out.
Really disappointed in MAW today. Terrible defense
The lack of a rim protecting 5 and a go to player on offense is just so glaring and it's not going to get better this year.

Mason Madsen had as many points at Chris Vogt the past two games.

For you basketball geeks. Is it time to start and play the younger guys. Like having the starting lineup be Dejulies, Sanders, Harvey, Davenport, and Eason.

Two last things:
1) Our press sux. if that's the team we're going to be, they need to really tighten that up.
2) Just listened to Coach Brannen's post game with DH and KJ. i know answering those questions is probably the last thing he wants to do at this point in time but he was kind of d!ck. Completely unnecessary.

That’s a jarring stat. Glad I didn’t flip this one on.
Double checked my work...we were only down by 8 to X so it’s 9 out of 10 we were down by at least 8. Furman is the only game we didn’t fall behind like it was our job.

That's what they're doing. Williams and Vogt spend most of their time on the bench with fouls.

Yea, he was very short in his responses but honestly i don't think he knows. That shot of him and the players on the bench with about a minute to go was telling.

This team is just not nearly as good as the sum of its parts. Turns the ball over too much, fouls too much, can't shoot, and gives up too many easy baskets. I know this team has enough talent to look better than they do. This season's failures is on the coaching staff. I've been patient in not piling on Brannen, but he's earning a failing grade this season for sure.
This is well put.
Go look at uc's 2009 team. . Had good parts but they were young (other than Williams / Vaughn). They made all kinds of mistakes. They were learning. The young core would get them to a sweet 16 a couple years later. Vaughn and Williams were better than our 2 seniors on this team and that team finished 108 in kenpom adjusted defense. People around here aren't used to having this kind of roster. The key is keep the young guys growing and keep them here for the future.
Hope you're right, but I don't think there is a lack of talent on this team, and this is not the 2009 Big East. It's also pretty frustrating if we are back to where we were in Cronin's 3rd season.

KJ made an interesting point about MAW. Mentioned that he's essentially being asked to transition from PG to SG which is a significant transition. With that in mind we really have three PGs (DD, MAW and Sanders). We lose some scoring playing two PGs on the floor at the same time, regardless of the combination, but we lose some defense without MAW on the floor (despite his showing today). That said, our defense is already so bad, i can't imagine taking off MAW.

It's frustrating but it's reality. Our junior and senior classes just aren't good. We are dependent on freshman and sophomores and while I think we have talented guys there they aren't there yet. I like what I've seen from them.
Of course this is dependent on keeping them here and putting together a class for next year.

He’s been that way after the last couple losses. He keeps thinking he has this all figured out and then he sounds as lacking explanations as fans are.
There will be another article in the Enquirer this week about how we are turning the corner.

Probably only if we beat EC. I don't think even an optimistic journalist would risk putting a spin on this display right now.

Hopefully it looks like it has the next week. These next 2 are games we should win.

LOL he played 30 minutes. More than Harvey. Comical.
Also, no idea what his symptoms are, but it's probably a bad idea to have a sick guy around the rest of the players right now . . .

Where did you see that at? I said to someone in the first half that he didn't look like he should be on the court, but i was only guessing. 30 minutes and 2 points on 0/6 shooting. Yikes.

I’m guessing that in this world we live in, if a player was sick, test or not, he wouldn’t be on the court.

Have to win the next two. I do see some progress but the are periods on the court where you wonder if there any coaching or leadership. I just not sure where the program finds it this year.
