By 247 composite rating (.9291) he'd be the highest rated recruit in UC history since 247 has come out with ratings, surpassing Evan Prater (.9279).

As with the other 2022 recruits though, half the battle is holding on to them for another 12 months. At least he's local unlike the Savage 7 kids. It's obvious these kids are committing to Cincinnati based on our top 10 ranking, what Fickell has built and his reluctance to leave. Staying in the top 10 next year would be help immensely.
Massive would be an understatement.
Cincinnati has a solid shot of staying in the top 10. We lose a lot on defense but will return the core of our offense.

It will be really interesting to see where we are ranked in he 2021 pre-season polls. My guess is that we'll be ridiculously under ranked, since that's what pollsters always do to non-P5 programs.

They didn't do that to us this year. We had a solid preseason ranking. It'll likely be better next year.

They care most about the money position AKA quarterback. Assuming Ridder returns, I think we will have a high ranking somewhere in the 9-14 range depending on what we do in our bowl game.

They also care about the other money position: head coach.
After UCF's undefeated 2017, they returned their quarterback. But not their coach. So they started 2018 ranked 21 in one poll and 23 in the other.
In 2010, Boise was preseason #3. In 2011, Boise was preseason #5. In both years, they returned their starting QB and their head coach.

To be fair, we were still under ranked, but I’m sure that’s to be expected to some extent.
If we finish strong I do expect a solid ranking next season, at the very least. Somewhere around 15, but it depends on whether we lose any Juniors like Hudson, Sanders, Ridder, etc...

247 doesn’t have any Crystal Balls, but curiously I see we are now the only team listed as “warm”. I believe that was updated, but may be wrong.
Would be a tremendous commit and another example of our program taking the next step.

Will be paying attention. This would be a total game changer for our recruiting rep in the state of Ohio. One time!
While Prater ended up being a top get, he wasn't getting much attention early on.
Shepard has had a bunch of the big programs after him since day 1.

Just the fact that it proves Prater wasn’t a fluke, and legitimizes our ability to pull mid/high 4* is huge. Especially with other 4* prospects in the 2022 cycle already on board.
Seems pretty clear that recruiting is on the upswing. I keep thinking what this staff can accomplish with these recruits, considering what they were accomplishing with low/mid 3*. Gap is closing between us and the “P5”.

His dad played at GT...wonder how much that would impact a decision. He has a lot of big fish chasing him at the moment, but man would it keep up the momentum on the recruiting front, and I could see this helping us with someone like Kaden Saunders and maybe even CJ Hicks (teammates)

Yea, I don’t think we are the favorite, but I do think we are legitimately an option that he could realistically choose. Strangely I haven’t seen any hints at where he is leaning. Could that be a good thing as there is normally more news on some of the bigger programs? Always possible they have just kept a tight lid on it, but I do recall that post from the Bearcats Recruiting Twitter and Fick retweeted it so who knows what it all means.

Yeah, I'm holding out hope that the "We got him!" tweet was about Shepard, otherwise, it was a pointless tweet given there being no new commits in the last few weeks, and I don't think they'd make that big of a fuss over a guy who would be ranked 8th in this current class.

I’m also sure who ever he is picking is already aware of his decision, and probably was a week or so ago. It does fit, but I don’t want to get my hopes too high just yet :)

With Broo droning on about how much better these sportscaster wrestling matches were 15 years ago.
Side point...but my god do we have a lot of "Br-" names in our sports booths...

I know we are waiting on Shephard’s decision, but thought this was interesting tweet from 6’ 7” 305 pound OT Ryan Baer (247 .88, composite .8678, 489 best player nationally and 12th best Ohio).
Note sure how to embed Tweets but here is the link.

For those unable to load tweet, he is replying to 2022 commit Stephan Byrd asking if he is needing someone to block for him.
