Funny how Memphis got vilified for a month over covid/the bus, and it's business-as-usual-Covid for the rest of you mutts. Moral of the story. Never be first.

Uni Watch Update

Under Armour, University of Cincinnati agree to buyout of $50M sponsorship deal

"Under Armour Inc. has reached a deal to get out of a $50 million sponsorship with the University of Cincinnati, according to documents obtained by the Baltimore Business Journal.

A "buy-out agreement" between Baltimore-based Under Armour and Cincinnati terminates a prior apparel deal five years before it was set to expire. The agreement, effective July 1, requires Under Armour to pay a $9.75 million exit fee to Cincinnati and provide $3.65 million worth of product through June of 2021.

Under Armour (NYSE: UAA) has been the official outfitter of Cincinnati athletics since July 2015, when both sides entered into a 10-year, $50 million partnership. The arrangement has been among the 20 most lucrative deals in college sports."

It's a very interesting "buy-out" since UC will still be buying and using UA gear till at least 2022 and possibly all the way to 2024.

Gonna be interesting to see if UC goes Jordan/Nike or Adidas

Definitely would have rather seen this deal through, but not a terrible buyout for us. Gives us $13.4M of the roughly $20M-$25M remaining we were owed, but allows us to get a new deal whenever we want. I assume we'll just purchase apparel at cost until the market for new apparel deals is better.

Wow. If Tulsa and Cincy overcome our next 2 hurdles we will play each other back-to-back for a conference title.

I think Tulsa only needs to win one out of our final 3 to guarantee the championship spot but I’m not 100% sure about that.

Is there a scenario where Tulsa loses to Houston and Cincy, beats Navy but since Houston holds the tie break they go instead?

Penny paid Wiseman's moving expenses when JW was in HS and Penny was not the Memphis coach. I realize that's too much for you to remember.

“The coach paid x amount of money to a player in order to build a relationship so the kid would play for him someday.” It doesn’t matter if it was for moving expenses. It doesn’t matter if it was for dentist work. It doesn’t matter if it was new shoes.

Locking down the Brigade seems effective - no liberty, no bus.

He wasn't being punished for being a coach giving a player money. He made a million dollar donation to the university 10 years earlier so they got him for being a booster. Penny told them everything about all of it and they said he was good to go.

Then the Nazi's changed their mind. This is what happens when Kentucky doesn't get their way. I'm guessing they're Democrats.
