Two police officers reported there were four passengers and they smelled cannabis inside the car. While searching the car, they found a backpack on a passenger-side floorboard with a “loaded AR 15 semi-automatic rifle with a magazine inserted” and a “Glock pistol with an extended magazine.” Inside the car, they also found loose ammunition rounds and extra parts of the weapons.

Was the gun legal?

According to the Sentinel, Mitchell has a permit and had the gun properly stored in the trunk of the car. All the other guns were illegal and Collier didn't have a license to carry or even drive? Not the sharpest knife in the drawer b/c he feigned surprise why he was getting arrested....or just a bad liar.

Why would you need to drive around campus with an AR-15 under the seat?

It's a really unfortunate situation that happened to the kid. Football is now the least of his worries. I hope his life rebounds and gets back on track.

What I can't understand is why you would need all that firepower on UCF's campus? If it were at usf, I would totally understand.

With that said, why do you have guns in your car if you're rolling with drugs (of any kind) and a suspended license? I would be more sympathetic here if the gun issue was the only one at hand.
