If we’re FCS, I want us with WM. The other two are small potatoes.

RE: Future FB Schedule (currently 2021-2028)
Everywhere has this labeled as a ‘Spring’ schedule. More like Winter/Spring, as pre season practice & the 1st 4 games take place in the winter. The 5th game schedule the 1st day of Spring. Probably the 1st 6 or 7 games at least are going to feel more like winter..Could have the ‘wah, its too cold’ from the fairweathers for the entire schedule..

Good question, i want to know what the tiebreaker system entails. I can see the bellyaching from the north if we run the table and one of them does as well, or if a one loss team actually looks better than an undefeated team who gets the bid? We they crown the bid by record or have say a coaches poll?

If JMU and a north team runs the table, or JMU and a north team both finish (7-1/5-1) it doesn't matter, both will get in. The CAA will get at least 2 teams in, maybe 3. And when it comes down to the top 4 seeds, the AQ doesn't matter..

In any "normal" year thats a lock. CAA should minimally get 2 this year, but if the committee looks at individual team opponents and SOS anything is possible. Maybe both CAA teams come from the North. There are fewer at larges now, and teams like Jacksonville St with an FBS win could be favored by the committee. Our potential SOS score scares me, particularly with respect to any chance at a seed.

Note: there are only 5 at large bids this year instead of the usual 14. That's a pretty dramatic reduction. Will they give any conference 40% (2) of those bids? If they do only 3 left.

MEAC gets an autobid for first time:

Posted on another thread before seeing this. If they don't amend the standard CAA tiebreaker rules, its likely to come down to Sagarin score. Feels like the CAA hosed us on schedule.

We made our bed about 10 years ago, we are getting what we asked for. Not a team on the schedule should be considered a peer either athletically or academically. Few students apply to RU, Waste Mgt., or Elam who also apply to JMU.

Yeah you’re right-kids that apply to JMU probably can’t get into Richmond, W&M or Elon. I say this as a kid who didn’t get into Richmond and where W&M and Elon weren’t options.

I love JMU and I am so glad I’m a Duke. This is a sports board and I get that our football program has outgrown these schools and we aren’t really football peers anymore with anyone in our current conference (even though Richmond beat us on the first Gameday game and Elon when Cig was there broke our winning streak). But I don’t lose sight of that fact that these are good schools so I don’t get making fun of them no matter how frustrated you are with our current conference or division in football.

This never gets old!

For everyone not excited about our spring schedule, I have a little something that will cheer you up. We are going to play Richmond twice. So not only do we get to play in both Bridgeforth stadiums this year, this also means we get not one, but TWO, game previews from Satchmo!

One could argue that we're getting 6, maybe even 7 home games in an 8 game season 04-cheers

I can guarantee that the Spatters will be allowing fans to all games except conveniently not when JMU comes to town. They don't want to be embarrassed that 999 out of 1,000 people are Dukes.

Talking about social distancing.

Has there ever been a more social distanced stadium than RU?

Never. The silence mid-3rd quarter in 2018 was deafening. Only thing to break it was the Varina HS Marching Band (who were outstanding).

Both OOC spring games will be noon kickoffs. I would imagine this is a combination of TV requiring earlier games to get us ahead of later airing pro sports games (usually 7pm with 2 or 3 hours of pre-game coverage) and then earlier in the season needing earlier games due to the colder weather.

Edit: JMU confirms earlier games are due to 6pm basketball games later on those days.
