That's the point lol.
No, I used to just get the nuggets, gyros. At the end, patti melt.
Pizza pros nuggets are decent. They got a good beef roll too.

OMG. I keep hearing about this damn Beef Roll from Pizza Pros. What the hell is it? Haven't had it in the 14 years I've been affiliated with the University.

Yup, the late Otto's and Lord Stanley's was always part of the bar crawl. Lord Stanley's has a solid pitcher and pizza combo. I miss the old Molly's location. The atmosphere was much better and had a dance area.
McCabe's was quite the scene back in the early-mid '80s. More beer spilled there than any other bar I frequented. Met my wife there 31 years ago and we still reminisce about our days in DeKalb. Otto's was a personal favorite. A bit more edgy and willing to take risks with their music play lists and the closest thing to a club-like atmosphere in DeKalb. Andy's was a destination for many regulars, and an especially intimate place to take in the Caribbean rock reggae sounds of DeKalb's own Mr Myers. Really surprised there weren't any mentions for the long departed Candlelight, a quaint old school bar with a juke box that used to be on 4th Street, just north of Lincoln Hwy. And while on memory lane, a couple of restaurant favorites were IVA's for deep dish, Rick's for a late nite slice, the Hillside, and the Crystal Pistol. I guess I'd settle for the Junction or nuggets at Pizza Villa right about now......

It's delicious! The beef roll is italian beef and mozzarella cheese rolled up and baked in a crispy crust. It's then sliced and served with a side of au jus for dipping. You can also get it with giardiniera inside.

I kept hearing of this Candlelight place as well. Sounds like the DeKalb bar scene was far better back then, than when I went.
We had starbusters, which was frat-tastic and trashy. Reilly's which became Tequila Roadhouse on Greek row, very un memorable in either rendition. Molly's in it's original location, which had it's $0.20 wings and riding the rail. Fatty's, which is just a chill place to be...in fact we would ride the Molly's bus just to walk to Fatty's. Bar One, which became Poison or something along those lines, which was an 18+ bar, both sucked. Stanley's and the annex, the legend! Otto's which was wild and had cool concerts. Hometown Sports, which I can't tell you much about. Eduardo's and O'Learys which were both fun. And the House Cafe, where all the art kids would go to listen to jam bands and techno. There was also a bar under the VCB that had a bull that was short lived. Oh and Twin Tavern, which kids would trek out to for some reason?

Yes, I was at NIU in the early to mid 1970s, and the bar scene was quite good - as were the restaurants. Aside from TK's, I also liked the Candlelight. My go-to restaurant a very short walk from the dorm was Sambo's. Great for a nice 2:00 a.m. meal!

I like picking up food there for tailgate if I don't bring a spread. Can walk there in a minute or two if you park in the East Lots. Good post game too, if you can get there quick after.
I graduated in early 90's, never ate there, no recollection although some claim it was there. I remember I think it was Stadium Club just west which is now apartments. Had a basketball hoop inside. May not have even been there by 93.

My go to eatery was Great Wall Chinese food. The service sucked but I was hungry and it tasted good, I think? If I was really drunk, Burritoville...of which I found out is absolutely disgusting sober. The there's Tom and Jerry's, which was just great. For pizza it was cheese nugs from Pizza Pros or Toppers pizza sticks drenched in ranch. Toppers is gone but Pizza Pros is still there. Glad they got a stand alone restaurant, because they used to be a tiny extension to Bar One. For a little while, Rapp Daddy's fried chicken was absolutely amazing, their location was bad and hidden away, but their chicken was AMAZING. They also ran a little hot dog cart in the plaza near the library. Fushi Yami was a welcomed restaurant in my last years of NIU.

I like to grab a couple pounds of Fatty's cajun potato salad and an order of Pizza Pro's cheese nuggets for tailgates. That way i at least get to eat two of my favorite DeKalb foods while in Illinois briefly.

Pizza Villa makes great Beer nuggets. My son is probably brewing a batch of them right now in the kitchen.

I think they sold. Last 2 times in few years sucked. Never again. Prior, 20 yrs out of school, the owners son still remembered me.
It's bad when they now your order before your say anything.
Steak, no lettuce, rice, poco beans, sour cream. Last time, like 3 yrs ago they charged extra for the rice
My old roommates and I still say "poco beans" all the time lol.

I was never at Tom & Jerry's except at about 1 am so I never knew if it was actually good or I was just starving.
Anybody remember Sneakers? We used to order pizza from there, not even sure where it was. It was pretty good for the price.

I think Sig Eps had a big party every Wednesday night in the early 80s. Is that still going?

Rick's didn't have the greatest pizza, but the slices were cheap and convenient. The jukebox was awesome and you could shoot pool if you wanted. Excellent if you lived in the dorms. Similar hole-in-the-wall feel still carried today by Lord Stanley's, although it Rick's was more of a restaurant than a bar. I lived at Spruce Hill my junior year and downtown my senior year and stopped going to Rick's. A few years later, gone. It was the perfect college place, although I never took my parents there. I miss Rick's.

If you are talking about the SAE's I would have to say the answer is no. My senior year, 1981, I had to go have a talk with the provost and Chief of Police about our parties because townie high school kids were coming around and that was a no no. We could easily go through 15 kegs during those parties. As to restaurants and bars Red Lion became the Jungle sometime after I left and it was a different name before I was there. Dill pickle was the best sub sandwich in town. Jimmy Johns reminds me of Dill pickle sandwiches. Didn't get to mccabes often because Red Lion was close by. Would go to Sullivans and twin taps and TK's when alumni came up and when I went up after graduation. Hillside was a place for a "better" dinner. There was a dining room on the second floor of the Holmes center-may have been called the Pheasant room-that had a really good lunch and was reasonably priced. Pizza place by Phi Sigma Kappa house, I think was JP hannigans had good deep dish and I still love Pizza Villa super thin crust. Tom and Jerrys was good only when you'd been drinking. There was a pizza puff place right next to Red Lion that was a necessary stop on the stumble home. think it was called Herbies and Herbie used to work there. He put up with a lot of crap from students.
