I feel the Navy result is too skewed from their aweful approach to practicing + being the first game. A lot of teams are having rough first games where they are still working out things they didnt have time to due to losing spring ball and shortened or limited fall practices, including us.

The Troy one is more impressive, probably. But we really dont know how good anyone is right now. They also had two weeks to prepare for Troy.

Nothing I've said in this thread was inflammatory toward La Tech. I think your team will be another solid opponent for BYU.

But honestly, you're an extremely poor representation of the La Tech fan base from what I've seen. There's about three or four of you here that make no one want to pull for La Tech in any sport, ever. The rest of the La Tech fans that are actually rational, like Pilot, are way better representatives.

You're an extremely poor representation of a moderator. Same can be said about you and not wanting to pull for Troy in any sport. You come on the CUSA board and throw backhanded insults at Tech and expect no blowback.

True. Hoping to keep it competitive. I feel our guys will be up to the challenge. Like other Tech posters have stated: We rarely get blown out and when we do it's against very good teams. Maybe we'll pull the upset, I sure hope so.

Funny enough, you two were the other posters I was referring to who give La Tech a bad name. You stir the pot against people, many times for no reason other than you get some strange jolly out of it.

That's why so many people on the AAC, SBC, and even CUSA board dislike La Tech, because you shed a poor light on an otherwise good program with a nice fanbase. Even various BBS admin don't like the antics you pull, especially since you two perform rep abuse on different posters who don't agree with your opinions.

You constantly come on this board and throw your weight around as a Moderator. You're the one doing the engaging and antics. Get lost. This thread is about our game against BYU not Troy.

BYU vs LaTech

Former opponents are free game to discuss, don’t have to get derailed on how that criticism is received by former opponent fans or message board perceptions of posters.

If we win the toss we need to go on offense first. Really need an opening drive touchdown to make BYU feel some kind of adversity. Keep it close going into the half. I'm just afraid we don't have the players on defense to compete. Will be missing our starting LB Baldwin for the 1st half because of the targeting call he had against HBU. That's a big loss for the 1st half.

At the same time it’d potentially be a boost for our second half defense. If we can get through H1 without him, he’d be a fresh asset in H2.

Reading some of BYU's fan boards they certainly don't have a lick of respect for us and the consensus prediction is BYU 55 Tech 10. I suppose we should be flattered they are giving us 10 pts, which is the combined scores allowed vs. Navy and Troy.

If we had last year's defense and Anthony at QB I'd predict a Tech win. Alas, we lost 9 starters off that defense and now Baldwin will miss the 1st half, a 10th starter from last year. Our "freshmen" defense will be severely tested and I am sure they will learn lessons that will be valuable later this year and in their careers. But, won't help much Friday night.

I've watched their two games and BYU is legit good. Physical/athletic lines, a seasoned QB, and they are playing with a great deal of confidence.

Our losses on Defense are going to hurt us and I believe we are missing some starters on the DL still. We will need a strong gameplan.

Tech had two 4th round draft picks in our secondary last year, now we are young and inexperienced.

Tech will put up a much better fight than weak sunbelt school like Troy but BYU still wins by double digits.

4-5 BYU TO's wouldn't hurt us either

I think a lot of our fans are over confident. Troy and Navy are better than USM and HBU and Byu dominated them. Anything can happen and I hope we pull it off, but I think there is a better chance they take us behind the woodshed of latter day saints ( credit to my friend on that one). I will feel pretty good if we get into the 20s and avoid the 50+ to 10 type scores a lot of the BYU fans are expecting.

I do think our young team will get better and better as the year goes on.
