Good question.

I'd say somewhere around 10% or less of folks I encounter are wearing their mask incorrectly.

I'd also say that 99.9% of those folks are employees at the business I'm shopping at.

I'd guess it's due to the extended hours they are required to wear them or some type of physical issue with breathing in the mask.

Note: This is extremely scientific data, so don't question it.

Hehe... I went to CVS today in Olive Branch. There were two customers there besides me. A lady in her 70s wearing it under her nose, and a lady that had to be in her 90s not wearing a mask at all. And there's a mask mandate at all businesses in MS.

I'd also say that 99.9% of those folks are employees at the business I'm shopping at.

I'd guess it's due to the extended hours they are required to wear them or some type of physical issue with breathing in the mask.

Note: This is extremely scientific data, so don't question it.

Yep

Not sure why this is still such a big deal for some people during a pandemic. Get over it all ready.

Everyone I know follows this same concept.....wear it at work (where required) and wear it at a business (where required).

If I had to quantify, I'd say 99%+ of everyone I see while out-and-about is following this also.

Same in Nashville. Pretty simple.

Same here in small town....except some New Age business owners don't 'believe' in the virus and forbid their employees to wear them. lol

Ah yes, to extol the virtues of this country's most backwards state.

You're just a sheep of another color.

Keep wearing that mask 24/7 bro because the media tells you to.

Have you been to a doctor or dentist lately? Do you see how serious they are taking it? I take my info from medical professionals, not the media. Unbelievable.

(09-04-2020 08:44 AM)pwman2 Wrote:  I for one applaud the Shelby County Health Department. You just have to look at the soaring increases of the virus in Haywood County (over 50%) and compare that to Shelby County's decrease. What is the difference? We have a mask ordinance and restrictions on bars and they do not! Is 12' the right distance? Should it be 10 or 8? I don't knw. But I do know if 6 feet is acceptable for standing in line at Walgreens, certainly more than that is required for a football game. Thank you SCHD for having the balls to make the hard decisions even tough they are publicly and politically very unpopular! I can say the same for our Mayor but not for our Governor or President.

lol
SCHD is a typical govt agency playing with other people's money. They got no skin in the game, because they continue to get paid no matter who else they shutdown. It doesn't matter to them that by using a 12' rule instead of a 6' rule, they cost the UofM $500k every game.

I can point to 2 other simple rulings of theirs that show their hypocrisy that they do not have everyone's best interest in mind. First, although they have shutdown every limited service restaurant elsewhere in the county, the "limited service restaurants" on Beale (Silky's, Alfred's, etc.) have been allowed to remain open. I guess you can't get the COVID on Beale. Second, they continue to shutdown Riverside Dr on weekends in the name of the pandemic. I guess driving down this street causes COVID. It's ridiculous the power that they have grabbed.

And here's some data from you that flies in the face of applauding local leaders, but not others:
Cumulative positivity rate:
Shelby County 10%
Tennessee 7%
USA 8%

Cases per capita:
Shelby Co 1 case per 28 people
TN 1 case per 37 people
USA 1 case per 54 people

Deaths per 1 million population:
Shelby Co 416
TN 263
USA 562

So, yeah. Shelby Co left to our own decisions have under-performed.
