I'd really only be interested in playing Troy if its a home game, and Troy probably is not kosher with that.

I’d think we’d only be interested in a home game regardless, else we have:

@ Miami
@ TBD
@ USA

Heading into CUSA play. We would have only 3 home games thru 11/07. And none of those home games would be consecutive.

I may be wrong (how many times have I posted those words here...probably not nearly as much as I should) but isn’t a waiver from the NCAA to play on Week 0 (8/29...or 8/27 if Thursday is allowed)? Given the circumstances they may be more inclined to grant waivers and I don’t think an FCS school is going to turn down a payday even if it shortens summer/fall camp.

The NCAA issued a blanket waiver last week. Anyone is free to schedule games the weekend of 8/29 if needed.

Been thinking about the BYU situation. UAB ought to think about playing at their place on Friday 9/18. Might be on ESPN2. BYU might even send their own plane for transporting. That way UAB plays an extra away game and saves a big game for the new stadium.

In 2022 the opening game could be against BYU in the 2nd year of the new stadium. Sept 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

So you would rather play someone like Tenn State at home this year than have BYU at home in 2022? We're not even certain that fans can go this year.

I'm guessing that BYU will make most of their schedule against the MWC, who announced eight conference and two OOC games yesterday.

We'll be playing in Protective Stadium in 2021, but there is no guarantee that it will be open that early. No delays have been reported, but who knows?

Read my post earlier in the thread. If we take a road game, that’s 3 consecutive road games leading into conference play and only 3 home games period thru 11/7. Ask Bill Clark how he would feel about that.

And it leaves us with 5 home games which is 1 less opportunity to make any money we can this season. BYU’s not going to pay to play us.

I did read your earlier posts.

Even the NFL is talking about only allowing 20% of your seats to be sold. Optimistically if UAB can sell 20% that is only 14K+. Will you get that in this environment against a "cupcake" team? Plus a lot of places are currently not allowing "tailgating".

Plus with social distancing, a lot of the people who sit in the shade will be ticketed to the other side of the field.

It could be what makes better financial sense? Not what makes you happy.

Do I think they will schedule BYU? No. I think it will be FCS. But you need to explore your options.

USM also got Tulane at home the following week to replace our road game at Auburn so we are back up to 12 games for the time being.

I would really be surprised if we played anyone the week after visiting COVID hotspot Miami. May need the quarantine time...

Let me throw another one out there.

Just saw where NIU may not play at all. Guess who they play on the open date that UAB has in October? That's right BYU. (You guys are catching on).

BYU needs games.

From Football scoop:

MACtion: Well, this morning Ralph Russo reported the MAC was planning to move forward with a season; however word this afternoon from Ross Dellenger is that they have delayed a decision until Saturday. Word had been circulating within the profession that NIU was strongly considering not playing this season regardless of the conference decision. Will update when more is clear.

The Big Sky (FCS) just cancelled football for the year. Opens up dates on some MTW schedules (and Temple lost another game).

BYU should have no problem filling their schedule with western teams or fellow independents now.

With the ACC schedule coming out today, it had open non-conference games for Clemson and North Carolina on Sept 19th. They have to be at the ACC school.
