Samford is at ETSU

Been thinking about the BYU situation. UAB ought to think about playing at their place on Friday 9/18. Might be on ESPN2. BYU might even send their own plane for transporting. That way UAB plays an extra away game and saves a big game for the new stadium.

In 2022 the opening game could be against BYU in the 2nd year of the new stadium. Sept 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

We want a home game. Period.

So you would rather play someone like Tenn State at home this year than have BYU at home in 2022? We're not even certain that fans can go this year.

Read my post earlier in the thread. If we take a road game, that’s 3 consecutive road games leading into conference play and only 3 home games period thru 11/7. Ask Bill Clark how he would feel about that.

And it leaves us with 5 home games which is 1 less opportunity to make any money we can this season. BYU’s not going to pay to play us.

Serious question, how much money do we lose having only five home games this year? I bought my season tickets and don’t expect a refund if we have five home games instead of six this year. I doubt there is going to be a lot of money made off of single game tickets, because those are going to be very limited if offered at all this year.

I do.understand the concept of not wanting to front load the schedule with road games though. We have a bad habit of tacking weird losses on the road as it is, and it could potentially be a disaster if the team loses them in large numbers and we are well under .500 before we even have a chance to start conference play.

An FCS game makes the most sense for sure, and I’m sure Clark and Ingram have something in the works as we speak.

I hope they don't drag their feet in typical UAB fashion. While there are still plenty of options at the moment, the better fits are starting to disappear.

My top 20 list of most likely opponents to come here on 9/19:
1. East Tennessee State (have 2 games to fill)
2. Tennessee State (have 3 games to fill - no game scheduled until 9/26)
3. Arkansas State (have 2 games to fill)
4. UT-Martin (need 1 game to replace UAT)
5. Middle Tennessee (have 1 game to fill, can play Troy in Wk1)
6. Army (have 4 games to fill - have only 3 home games)
7. Kennesaw State (have 4 games to fill - have only 3 home games - Big South may postpone to spring)
8. Appalachian State (might end up at UNC - have 3 games to fill)
9. Furman (might end up at Clemson - need 1 game to replace UT)
10. ULM (would require ULM-TXST game to be moved to 9/12)
11. Charlotte (have 2 games to fill - No games scheduled until 9/26 - might end up at UNC)
12. Troy (have 1 game to fill - have 5 home games)
13. East Carolina (have 2 games to fill - have 3 consecutive empty weeks in September)
14. Memphis (have 1 game to fill - have 6 home games - would require the Memphis-Houston game to be moved to 9/12)
15. Temple (have 3 games to fill)
16. Houston (have 1 game to fill - have 6 home games - would require the Memphis-Houston game to be moved to 9/12)
17. BYU (have 5 games to fill - have 3 consecutive empty weeks in September - plenty of western options available)
18. Murray State (have 1 game to fill)
19. Massachusetts (have 3 games to fill)
20. South Alabama (need 1 game to replace FL - would mean back to back games with USA)

The way things are falling there may not be any FCS schools left. But in case there are a few, what about James Madison or North Dakota State?

Would you pass up Army at their place? (Went to a Navy game once and it was cool.)

I’m against a military school this year because they run different offenses and we already have a limited offseason. I’m against ECU because I don’t ever want to help them.

Last night the Chattanooga coach tweeted that he was looking for games.

UTC's schedule is subject to change. So 9/19 may become available.

I just know that UAB is looking for a home game period.

While North Dakota State has 3 games to fill, I just don't see them traveling to the deep South to play a C-USA team.

Wow, I didn't realize JMU only had 4 games scheduled. I would be ok with playing them here.

I've seen UAB play at Army and Army play at UAB. Now, if we could parlay this opening into a H/H, I would be all for that.

With the Big Sky and Pioneer moving to the spring, it looks like the FCS play-offs are off unless the NCAA alters their 50% participation mandate.

That leads to the question of how many FCS teams will still play this fall?

With FCS possibly moving to the spring that would leave USM with an opening on Sept 19 as our current opponent is Tennessee Tech. I realize USM is already playing at UAB the last game of the season but any chance in your opinion we'd play an OOC game that day? USM currently has 7 home games counting Tennessee Tech so I don't think it's too big of an inconvenience to play in Birmingham if both teams are trying to play a "full" season. It's an easy trip with minimal expenses and should have a decent amount of fans

FCS must still be up in the air. Central Arkansas just signed to play at Arkansas State.

The southeast FCS schools are still trying to hold on.

The sky must be falling! LA Tech just agreed to play ULM, taking them off the board.

Missouri State AD just stated they will still play at Oklahoma with the MVC postponing to spring.

FCS Play-offs officially shelved for the fall.

Only the 4 southern FCS conferences are now hanging on to fall. Big South, Ohio Valley, Southern and Southland.
