We need to send all those white bastards right back where they came from.

We were all tired of talking about LA Tech.
And my current Honda was built in Alabama. Yee haw! I traded my last Honda, a Pilot, after 12 years and 207,000 miles. Only had one repair during that time, and it cost about $200.

Infiniti, Nissan, and Renault (the last one being mostly confined to Europe now) are all Nissan brands. My largest project a few years ago was modifying systems for a new Infiniti model that would have a Daimler engine from Germany, assembled in the UK with parts from France, then shipped to America and only sold domestically.
clt is amazed by the popularity of rogues, crvs, rav4s and the like.
They are fun sporty little SUVs that sure beat the hell out of a sedan.
clt says they are tall sedans.
Keep in mind that 95% of car sales are about how the person envisions themselves and what others think about them. None of these SUVs are ever used for Sport Utility. They are simple face masks designed to hide the mundane personalities driving them.
clt refuses to call these tall sedans suvs. Anything with a front wheel drive bias is not an suv

Politics du jour always has some strange quirks.
I don't want to belittle the plight of any group of peoples, but human history is nothing but the subjugation of one culture by another. A chronological order of the bronze age will make your head spin off your shoulders. I am certainly not advocating this or even justifying it, just stating what I see in the history books. Its not something that was invented in the 2nd millennium AD.

Agreed. I'm just struck by the irony of a people who fled subjugation, to start a new nation with a new Constitution so that they may live a life of liberty and freedom, only to destroy the lives of those who already lived here, and as an encore, brought over millions of slaves.
I think that one more thing history has shown us over and over is that we can never fully know the character of a person or culture of a people until they're the ones in power. And history around the globe can be summed up as that never-ending power struggle, whether between empires, governments, cultures, businesses, ideas, or just the struggle to survive. And of course through that struggle, people and nations evolve over time (usually for the better, I believe, though occasionally regressing again).

The major difference being that we live in an era where social media and technology expedites things to the point that we experience in real time what would normally take generations or even centuries to develop. Not to get too biblical on a thread like this but strictly from an historical perspective, subjugation and assimilation is a common occurrence chronologically speaking. Germany itself was an amalgamation of principalities for a millennia and so was Italy. Gradually one overtook another then another before they fully united. Cultures were absorbed, destroyed and new ones created. We only know parts of the norms and attitudes of all these people because the rest is lost to history, but now we have in plain view ever aspect of American, Chinese, European etc... thanks to technology. We must strive to not completely look through the lenses of presentism when judging and only hope to correct the current issues.
