If I'm ODU . . .
I'm working like hell with a local TV station to get all football games (to start with) broadcast (if they are played). If the stadium is empty, or the capacity severely diminished by social distancing, that doesn't mean there won't still be a tremendous viewership potential.
Keep Ted and Mishaw on radio, hire Scott Jackson and Taylor H to do the TV, get the usual advertising suspects (and/or others in addition).
I'm not big on listening to ODU football on radio, not the way Ted and Mishaw do it, and I think there's a chance for decent ratings/exposure on TV.
Random, I know.

Good thought...Keep the program visible and perhaps encourage more support as the season goes along... BTW... Ted’s not perfect but sounds much better when compared to others, including P5 announcers...Too much corn, but he tracks the game clearly...

Ted minus the cheese is actually quite good. Unfortunately it seems he is incapable of turning it off. I don't get the Mashaw hate. He is solid and sounds like what I expect a college football analyst on the radio to sound like.

Like you said, when you listen to our peers, it becomes clear that we aren't doing bad. Even if Ted can be pretty annoying at times, he is light years better than what you hear from most of our conference mates.

Just a pet peeve, but what experience does Taylor Heinicke have being an announcer? Just because he was a good football player doesn't mean he would be a good announcer. Unless he has some experience that I'm unaware of.

And yes, there are tons of terrible former players as announcers. A lot of them are assigned our games on ESPN3.

Everybody that announces games started somewhere. Twardzik (for example) apparently either started somewhere at the NBA level prior to coming to ODU, or at ODU with his basketball announcing - annalist/color commentary.

Yeah, but some never get any better; take Booger McFarland for example. 03-lmfao

If the big 3 local stations don't want or can't pick up the games could PBS/ WHRO? I know they don't run commercials for-profit (not sure) but it could be huge for their fundraising goals. I remember in the 80s or 90s watching ivy league football games, W&M, Hampton, and NSU games on PBS, and some states I watched high school and college wrestling matches on PBS.

Really haven't thought about it. I enjoy Dave and Andy for the most part. I guess I just get sick of hearing terrible ex-players as color analysts....Bogger being a good example.

No kidding.

UCONN Women's basketball is on PBS in CT (EVERY GAME) and it has killer ratings

And how would you define "Resl Men"?

If I remember correctly about 10 years ago or so, WHRO did in fact broadcast ODU games. It was when Call Bowdler was doing broadcasting. With the close proximity of the two organizations you'd think WHRO would have much more ODU centric programing, internships etc. How about a Jeff Jones coaches show?

RE: If I'm ODU . . .
I was just being mischievous.

When ESPN started broadcasting women’s BB. They adopted UCONN as the “house band” if you will. UCONN brand took off. Every game they played for a few years was broadcast on ESPN. They developed a large following. Starting about the 1986 timeframe every single player on the women’s program has been offered an internship at ESPN. Not really cheating. But it is a recruiting tool no school can compete with. That was infonstuon I read in the early 2000’s. Does everyone still get offered that internship? I don’t know.

Listen in on ESPN’s broadcasts. Look at how many are former UCONN Players. Direct correlation. They are who they are only because of being adopted by UCONN.

Dang, I didn't have a clue but looked it up. 04-rock same day tape delay https://www.odu.edu/news/news-archive/20...BALLG_2485

Wonder why they can't be more involved with ODU or vice versa.

Bowdler actually did a pretty good job as a newbie. Always wondered why he didn't stay after it.
