In the past, GT's showcase is just one of those multi-team events. Kind of like the ones JMU played in during Brady's last years and Rowe's first years. That is, GT will host all of those teams while JMU will also play the others. I'd have to think JMU will host Longwood and perhaps MSMU as well...we'll see...

GT should be pretty good next year as they (or I guess "we" for alums like me) return a lot of production. Having said that, they/we are always a great target to be upset in November/December by non-P6 programs as it seems like an annual ritual GT gets knocked off in a head-scratcher by a much smaller program.

Recent examples...

'20 season: Ball State wins at GT, 65-47
'19 season: Gardner-Webb wins at GT, 79-69
'18 season: Grambling State wins at GT, 64-63 (also, Wright State wins at GT, 85-81)
'17 season: Ohio U. wins at GT, 67-61
'16 season: ETSU wins at GT, 69-68
'15 season: USC-Upstate wins at GT, 59-54

There was a time when teams went into GT's Thriller Dome and were intimidated. Those days are far gone in the rear view mirror. There's absolutely no reason the Dukes should think any different and the Good Guys in purple have a legit shot.

One more note about JMU playing at GT...

...the Dukes have made some in-roads during the Rowe era in the ATL area, which is loaded with D1 talent. We've got Richey on roster who I'm sure will be very excited for his family and friends from the ATL suburbs to see him return. Now, we've got HCMB coming in from a few years in the state of Georgia, ties to the Cremins family, etc. I mean, GT's court is named after his mentor.

It continues the opportunity for HCMB and staff to be able to hopefully mine that talent-rich area.

Side note, it will have to be a thrill for JMU Asst. Coach, Jon Cremins, to be able to coach on the same floor as his famous uncle.

Looks like it is being reported as a guaranteed road game at Georgia Tech For JMU and then JMU will host the Mount and Longwood. Pretty good deal schedule wise for the Dukes IMO.

Heh, with our record last year all the P5's should have been lining up to pay us for a W. Hope we take their money and give a few of them unexpected losses.

JMU usually has 6 OOC games, sometimes 7, we already have MD-ES, UVA, ODU and probably either BWater or EMU, so figure there is 3 more home games. Would be great to get some schools like Richmond, Appy St and GA St in town.

Doesn’t Mason and perhaps Fordham both owe us a home game?

Yes both Fordham and Mason will be playing at JMU this year.

Opening AUBC against Mason could be a lot of fun. As long as the refs don’t find a way to give Mason 7 points without JMU touching the ball after JMU is up four with seven seconds left.

How about these?

Not sure why we don't play Marshall more. They are one of the closest to us. We played them last in football in the playoffs a long time ago. We did play them a couple times in basketball about 10 years ago. I'd guess it's more they don't want to play us......
